AEW Collision 7/13/24

From the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada!

Match #1 Konosuke Takeshita vs. Tommy Billington

Don Callis joins commentary.  Billington gets an armdrag and shoulderblocks Takeshita down, sending him to the outside.  Back in, Billington gets a shotgun dropkick, but a second attempt misses.  Takeshita takes over with some punches, but Billington gets a running crossbody sending both over the top to the outside (mostly).  Billington goes to the top, but Takeshita knocks him down onto the buckle and goes up as well.  Superplex connects for Takeshita and gets two.  Forearms are exchanged which Takeshita gets the better of and he sends Billington into the ringpost and to the outside as we hit a commercial break.  We return with Billington hitting a crossbody to the floor and going up again for a top-rope missile dropkick.  Snap suplex and Tommy heads up top again, but Takeshita tosses him off.  Corner charge from Takeshita misses and they fight over a tombstone piledriver which Billington gets, but can’t cover.  Tommy goes up again, looking for the diving headbutt but it misses.  Blue Thunder Bomb from the Alpha gets a two count.  Billington counters a suplex with a rollup for two, but Takeshita runs through him with a clothesline and a T-Trigger kneestrike for the win.

Winner:  Konosuke Takeshita

Rating:  **3/4.  This was pretty good, with Billington getting a lot of offense in.

Post-match, Callis and his funky shoes grabs a mic and puts Billington over, trying to recruit him to the Don Callis Family.  Billington shakes his hand, but tells Don to kiss his rear and Callis slaps him.  A beatdown on Billington commences, with Kyle Fletcher joining in, but FTR runs in to make the save.

Match #2 Bang Bang Gang vs. London Lightning, Michael Allen Richard Clark, & Shaun Moore

This is not for the Trios Titles for those interested.  Because Juice Robinson can’t defend them, not because these other guys don’t deserve a title shot.  The BBG triple team Moore for a bit and then beat up on the rest of the jobbers.  My feed cuts out and we come back to the Bang Bang Gang cutting a promo, so let’s assume they got the win.

Winners:  Bang Bang Gang

Post-match, Christopher Daniels interrupts and strips the Bang Bang Gang of the Unified Trios Championships due to Jay White’s injury.  This brings out Christian Cage and the Patriarchy, asking for the titles to be handed over to them.  Daniels then sets up the Bang Bang Gang (the Juice Robinson version) versus the Patriarchy for the now vacant titles.

Jack Perry tells us he was one of the original challengers for the TNT Championship, and now he’s willing to give the opportunity to someone else to sacrifice everything.

Match #3. Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship Number One Contender: Roderick Strong w/ The Kingdom vs. Dalton Castle w/ The Outrunners

Castle quickly uses his amateur wrestling prowess and takes Strong down, resulting in a one count. Upkick by Strong sends Castle out to the floor. Castle fights back with a big running knee strikes to Strong on the apron, which sends him crashing to the floor. Rebound hurricanrana by Castle. The Kingdom and The Outrunners come to pass outside the ring, allowing Strong to fly in with a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Strong in control now as we go to commercial break. Back from great and Strong is laying in some hard chops but Castle catches a boot and tosses Strong with a Greco Roman throw. Hard elbows by Castle and a running knee in the corner. Facebuster by Castle gets a two count. Pair of T-Bones by Castle and another running knee in the corner. Castle goes to the well one more time and Strong moves, causing him to fly over the top and to the floor. Back suplex on the apron by Strong. Back inside the ring and Castle tries for the BangARang but Strong lands on his fee tand flattens Castle with a rising knee for the win.

Winner: Roderick Strong

Rating: **. Meh, we didn’t get a whole lot here but we did get a new number one contender.

Stokely is with Kris Statlander. Stokely says he brought Willow into this world, and he can take it out. Statlander says it’s never going to end.

Match #4. Nyla Rose vs. Ava Lawless

Lawless tries some clotheslines but they don’t work. Chokeslam by Nyla. Vertical suplex by Nyla but she holds on and connects with a Gordbuster. Superkick by Nyla. Beast bomb. Finito.

Winner: Nyla Rose

Rating: NR

Match #5. Top Flight vs. Shane Taylor Promotions

Wait, didn’t we just see this one Rampage? In a trios match, that is. Moriarty and Darius to start. Lots of trading holds here and an arm drag by Moriarty. Half nelson roll by Dante and a cradle for two. Another cradle. Another cradle. Arm drag by Dante and we reset. Dropkick by Darius, who’s now legal. Anthony Ogogo gets the tag and he delivers some big Europen uppercuts in the corner and big boots. Dante makes the blind tag but Darius blocks a suplex. Senton by Dante and a leg drop for a one count. Guillotine choke between the ropes by Ogogo and a low dropkick by Moriarty. Hammer lock body slam by Ogogo and a tag to Moriarty. Arm breaker by Moriarty and Darius is in the wrong corner, with STP making quick tags as we go to a commercial. Back from break and Moriarty has a top wrist lock on Darius. Moriarty charges with a European uppercut but Darius ducks and sends him over top with a German suplex. Dante gets the hot tag and beats down Ogogo with elbows and a high knee to Moriarty. Enziguiri from the apron by Dante and a springboard crossbody for two. Ogogo catches a back heel kick and Dante rolls him up for two. Pop-up right hand by Ogogo sends Dante reeling. Enziguiri by Ogogo and Moriarty is in. Back suplex into a Pepsi Twist by Darius for two. Bottom rope bulldog by Darius out of nowhere and he waits for the flatliner, but Taylor trips Darius legs out. Darius kicks out of a bridging pin attempt. F-5 into a sit-out DDT by Darius! One, two, three.

Winners: Top Flight

Rating: **1/2. Fine match here, seems like we’ve seen a lot of these guys lately however.

Shane Taylor and company beat them down after the match as Taylor KO’s Andretti.

Deonna Purrazzo is with Lexi Nair. Purrazzo will burn the entire place down to create this whole place in her image. Thunder Rosa is here and she tells us she’s getting her hands on Purrazzo next week in a lumberjack match.

Match #6. Harley Cameron w/ Saraya vs. Skye Blue

Cameron gets a quick roll up for two. Cameron chokes Blue with her boot in the corner and now Blue returns the favor. Cameron tries to mount Blue in the corner with some punches but gets countered with Cheeky Nandos. The fight spills to the floor and Saraya provides a distraction, allowing Cameron to throw Blue into the LED board and regain control as we go to a commercial. Running step-up knee by Blue as we return. A second knee to the face now and a spinning neckbreaker. Two count. Soul Food by Cameron gets two. Cradle by Blue gets two. Blue walks into a superkick and Cameron follows up with a running knee to the face. Two count. Cameron tries a Backstabber but Blue holds on to the ropes. TKO by Blue as she rolls through, holds on to the head and neck, traps the arm, and submits her with a head and arm choke, maybe an arm-in guillotine.

Winner: Skye Blue

Rating: *1/2. This was a bit rough. Lots of punching and kicking and then a commercial break did it no favors.

Skye Blue says that she’s going to run through the entire roster and calls out the best women’s world champion ever… Hikaru Shida.

Match #7. The Conglomeration vs. The Undisputed Kingdom

Roderick Strong has joined the commentary table for the main event. Quick armdrags back and forth by Cassidy and Bennett. Double team pop-up elbow by The Kingdom and Cassidy is in trouble in The Kingdom’s corner. Quick tags now by The Kingdom as Cassidy tosses Bennett to the floor and Taven misses a dive and hits the post. Taven grabs a leg and Cassidy fights through to make the tag. Kyle clears the ring with roundhouse kicks and knees from the clinch. Leg sweep to Taven and a double dragon screw by Kyle. Arm breaker to Bennett and Kyle quickly grabs a straight armbar. Taven tries to stomp him but Kyle grabs a straight ankle lock. Bennett now tries to break it up and Kyle grabs a guillotine choke from standing full guard. Taven goes up and over with the Kick of the King to Kyle! Neck Check to Kyle and Cassidy breaks up the pin at two. Kyle slingshots Bennett into Taven and makes the tag. Satellite DDT to Bennett! Cassidy looks for the Orange Punch but Cassidy counters with the Boston Bayonet. Cassidy tries Beach Break on Bennett but Taven grabs Bennett from the apron, until Kyle kicks Taven off and then chokes him over the rope. Kyle lets go and NOW it’s Beach Break. Regal Knee off the apron by Kyle takes out Taven. Two count on Bennett back inside the ring. Roderick Strong now leaves the table and heads down the ring to confront Kyle. Ishii is here and he brawls with Strong, allowing Trent to pull Cassidy out on the far side. Kyle and Bennett trade rolling elbows back inside the ring. Release suplex by Kyle into a straight armbar but Taven comes off the top rope with a frog splash! Spike piledriver to Kyle and this one is over!

Winners: The Undisputed Kingdom

Rating: ***1/2. Strong main event here and a good win, finally, for The Kingdom. Kyle and Cassidy work shockingly well together, too. Fun main event.

Trent is still beating on Cassidy on the outside and tells him to “watch this”, as he rolls inside the ring and puts the boots to Kyle. The Kingdom tell Trent to back off Kyle and Cassidy rolls in the ring with a wrench! Cassidy cracks Trent in the back of the head and The Kingdom look on in fear. Kyle cools down Cassidy as Ishii clotheslines The Kingdom and all men convene as we go off the air.
