Winner: Adam Cole
Rating: **3/4. I dunno, something felt off in this one for me. Cole is still getting his wind back, but there were a few too many superkicks and knees to the face in this one for me. After the match, too, it just felt kind of weird.
After the match, Cole drops to a knee next to black and says something to him. Cole extends the hand, Black shoves it away, and then hugs him. Ospreay takes down Fletcher and Davis enziguiris his way out of an Archer chokeslam, and right into a Hobbs spinebuster! Fletcher ducks a Hidden Blade and gets out of dodge.
Final Thoughts: Lots of consistent wrestles here tonight. Starting the show with The Hurt Syndicate was the right call and it feels like they’re already beloved by the fans, and for good reason. The Cole and Black stuff fell kind of flat for me, and I can’t put my finger on why. Awesome to have Hobbs back, too, as this main event absolutely ruled. The pop for Will Ospreay outdid anything and everyone on the show, and it’s clear he’s the ace of AEW. Strong showing tonight, building a lot of stories and giving us some good wrestling matches. 8.25/10.
