AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS (12/11)
This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite kicks off LIVE inside the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas with Jon Moxley’s theme song immediately playing.
Moxley makes his way through the crowd to an insanely big reaction from the AEW fans in Garland as he heads to the ring for tonight’s opening bout.
Jon Moxley vs. Alex Reynolds
Justin Roberts does the long “Jonnnnnnn Moxley” introduction, which prompts a laugh and a joke from Jim Ross on commentary. The fans break out into “AEW! AEW!” chants before Moxley’s music even wraps up.
Already in the ring is his opponent for this evening, Alex Reynolds. The bell sounds and Moxley charges and blasts a big running knee. He follows up with a Paradigm Shift DDT and covers him. 1-2-3. It’s over that quick, folks.
The announcers tout Jon Moxley setting a new AEW record for fastest win in AEW Dynamite history. The fans chant “Moxley! Moxley! Moxley!” John Silver tries to attack Moxley from behind, but Moxley gives him a Paradigm Shfit DDT for his troubles and poses on the top turnbuckle as the fans chant “Moxley! Moxley! Moxley!” again.
Winner: Jon Moxley
Chris Jericho Asks Jon Moxley To Join The Inner Circle
Now The Inner Circle’s music hits and out comes Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara and the team of Proud -N- Powerful — Santana & Ortiz. The whole crew heads to the ring, where Moxley is still standing — by himself.
Jericho enters the ring by himself. He tells Moxley not to worry because if he and his pals wanted to attack him, they would have already. He says this is just a conversation man-to-man.
The AEW World Champion gives Moxley respect, saying he is one of the top wrestlers in AEW. He talks about their past history as friends, and how Moxley would ask him for advice. He says they eventually became rivals “who beat the sh*t out of each other.”
Jericho gives some examples and tells Moxley he taught him how to be a world champion. He tells the fans that he is who Moxley would call when he had a question about something or needed advice. He says he navigated Moxley right here to AEW.
He says Moxley re-paid him by laying him out at the AEW Double Or Nothing PPV in his debut. He says that showed him that they are still rivals and fighters, the same way they have always been. Jericho says he’s going to tell Moxley why he still needs him. The fans boo and Jericho tells them to shut up.
Jericho tells Moxley to imagine Moxley joining forces with himself, Hager, Guevara, Santana and Ortiz. Moxley looks over at The Inner Circle outside of the ring. Jericho outright asks Moxley to join The Inner Circle. The fans boo. Jericho pulls out a t-shirt.
He tells Moxley to take his time and enjoy the holidays. He says when he’s ready to respond, they’ll be waiting. Jericho lays The Inner Circle t-shirt across Moxley’s shoulder and exits the ring. The camera does a close-up on Moxley’s face. He smirks and then looks like he’s thinking abuot it. The fans chant “No! No!” and “Don’t! Don’t!” Jericho hops on the mic. again and tells Moxley not to listen to them. He again says when he’s ready to give his response, they’ll be waiting. That ends the opening segment.
The Butcher & The Blade (w/ The Bunny) vs. Cody & QT Marshall
After a vignette promoting tonight’s Texas Street Fight between The Young Bucks and Proud -N- Powerful, The Butcher, The Blade and The Bunny make their way down to the ring for our second match of the evening here at AEW Dynamite.
The announcers point out that The Bunny used to be known as Allie as the trio pose in the center of the ring ahead of this tag-team contest.
From there, the lights go down and the fans immediately break out into “Cody! Cody!” chants as All Elite Wrestling EVP and wrestler Cody makes his epic ring entrance with the cool music, lighting effects and pyro/fireworks.
His tag-team partner for this evening, QT Marshall, joins him as he makes his way down the ramp and heads towards the ring.
As the duo make their way to the ring, a split-screen pre-recorded interview with MJF airs. MJF taunts and mocks Cody, telling him “Good luck with QT Marshall as your partner!”
The bell sounds and here we go. Cody and The Blade start things off for their respective teams. Cody gets the better of The Blade early on, so he tags in his larger tag-team partner, The Butcher.
Cody tags in QT Marshall, the larger member of his team as well. The two big boys go at it now, with The Bunny quickly getting involved and making a difference, helping The Blade fly over the top and splash onto him as he was distracted with her.
The Butcher and The Blade gain the offensive advantage as we head to our first commercial break of the evening.
We’re back from the break and we see The Butcher and The Blade are still in control of the action. Cody finally gets the hot tag. He hits the disaster kick and a big high spot off the top rope for a pair of near falls.
As he goes for the Figure-Four Leglock, The Blade pushes him off and from the floor, The Bunny rakes the eyes of Cody. Cody stumbles back and QT Marshall blind-tags himself in.
QT Marshall surprisingly goes on an offensive tear, taking out The Butcher and The Blade and hitting a big high spot onto both of them on the floor. Back in the ring, QT hits the Cross Rhodes on The Butcher. He gets him out of the ring and hits a top rope high spot on The Blade for a near fall.
The entire time QT is doing well, he has a look of shock on his face, as if he can’t believe he’s doing as good as he is. Now as The Butcher and The Blade try to double-team an isolated QT in the ring, QT does a good job of fighting them off until he cannot any longer. They hit a cool double-team move and cover him before Cody can recover and return to the ring to help.
Winners: The Butcher & The Blade (with The Bunny)
