AEW Dynamite 2/5/25

Live from Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia!

Renee Paquette is outside the arena with the Switchblade. White says the relationship with Cope and FTR is unfolding in front of everyone’s very eyes, but The Death Riders, well they…

They’re here!

White stares down Moxley and company as Cope and FTR are here and thus the war begun! The fight spills all over the back of the arena as Moxley and White pair off. Cash bounces Pac off the barricade as all eight man finally fight to the ringside area. Bladerunner to Yuta! Claudio swings Dax into the barricade and cuts off a charging Wheeler with a European uppercut. Cope spears Claudio!

Cope takes the mic and says the fans are chanting one name.. Cope! Cope wants a title shot at Revolution and Moxley says he deserves nothing and he will get nothing. White wants a Brawl in Brisbane, and he’s got it!

Don Callis announces Will Ospreay’s mystery opponent is…

Match #1. Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis w/ Don Callis

Davis drops Ospreay with a chop and here we go. Cartwheel and a body slam by Davis. Don Callis joins the commentary table and lets us know that Davis is getting a try out tonight, kind of, as Fletcher signed Power of Attorney for Davis when he was in the hospital. Vertical suplex by Davis and his chest looks like hamburger meat. Davis sets Ospreay up on the top rope but Ospreay shoves him off and connects with a Phenomenal Forearm. Back from commercial and Davis controlled through the break with a PK to the face and a Super Dragon-esque curb stomp. Handspring corkscrew kick by Ospreay sends Davis to the floor, and he follows up with a plancha. Ospreay looks for a springboard but Davis catches him, Ospreay gets free, hook kick and an OsCutter! Two count. Palm strikes by Ospreay but he runs into a lariat. Piledriver by Davis! One, two, no! Davis rips off the middle turnbuckle but the referee steps in the way. Running Blade by Ospreay! That’ll do it.

Winner: Will Ospreay

Rating: ***1/4. What we got was fantastic, I just wanted about ten minutes more of it. This was a good match here and I think we missed some stuff during the commercial that would have helped, but it’s cool to see Davis.

Will Ospreay takes the mic and tells Don to get to stepping, because here’s Kenny Omega! Omega wants to celebrate Ospreay, but wants to know what Callis has on Mark Davis? Omega makes his return in one week in Brisbane, but he got the itch to come say hi tonight, so here he is.

Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita start their walk to the ring, but Don Callis stops them. Omega hypes up the tag match next week and has the most unnecessary amount of pyro.

We get a video package for Swerve and Ricochet… tonight!

The Hurt Syndicate are here! MVP says that Private Party are a hell of a team, but they were just the wrong people at the wrong time. MVP said if there are any teams that want to get walked in the way…

The Gunn Club is back! MVP says they should get in the ring and talk face to face, like men. Colten says they’ve been waiting two years to get their rematch. Austin says hurting people is what this business is about, so congrats. It’s time to take back their tag team titles! MVP say she appreciates the way they handle themselves, and he respects their father. Next week, it’ll be the Hurt Syndicate against a couple of ass boys.

The Gunn’s own the name and remind us that they’ve got two words for them… guns up!

Renee is in the back with Harley Cameron and her Mercedes Mone puppet. Mercedes shows up and tell us Cameron is a loser and she doesn’t get to ride the Mone train.

Back from commercial, and Renee (who’s earning her money tonight) is with Hangman. Hangman says that he had a momentarily lapse of judgement looking for Swerve last week, but it was a mistake and move on. Anthony Bowens wants Hangman to wrap it up, or maybe put Billy Gunn and Anthony Bowens in the hospital and end their careers, just like he did Christopher Daniels. Page wants Bowens instead.

Match #2. Hounds of Hell vs. Don Callis Family

Takeshita gets chopped by King and here we go. King drops both Takeshita and Fletcher with chops and the fight spills to the outside. King sits Fletcher and Takeshita in rolling chairs and runs through them with a cross body! Twice! Commercial time. Back from break and King is eating some right hands but drops Takeshita with an elbow and a clothesline, but Matthews dropped from the apron with a big boot so King has nobody to tag. Deadlift German suplex by Takeshita but King is up! Rolling elbow! Double clothesline and both guys are down. Matthews gets the tag as does Fletcher. Hip toss into a neckbreaker by Matthews and a kick combination. Both guys trade draping DDT attempts but Matthews settles for a running somersault plancha. Meteora by Matthews! Two count. Fletcher blocks the stomp but runs into a knee. Matthews goes up top and THE RAINMAKER’S music hits! Fletcher trips the legs out but Matthews is back with Cheeky Nandos. Running boot in the corner by Matthews and a cannonball off the top! King coves but Takeshita breaks up the pin with a senton off the top. King locks in a rear naked choke on the apron but Takeshita escapes and knees him in the face. Draping DDT by Fletcher! Two count. Superkick and a rolling elbow combo to King and an assited brainbuster get the win!

Winners: Don Callis Family

Rating: ***1/2. All four of these guys are such good wrestlers so it’s no surprise to me that they are capable of an awesome match. Good momentum for the Don Callis Family leading in to next week.

Hook and Samoa Joe are in the back. Joe is mad but Hook reminds him to keep his cool, and Joe hates that. They want to “leave a message” for Christian, so they dispatch of Wayne Kip Sabian… while Christian watches from afar.

MJF is here, and he wants Jeff Jarrett to know that the E in AEW stands for Elite.. and not elderly. Max Caster is here seemingly running from Hangman, who runs through the ring and once again annoys MJF. MJF continues his tirade, but here comes Dustin Rhodes.

Rhodes says he’s tired of MJF running down all the guys in the back, and guys that aren’t here anymore, like Owen Hart. Rhodes says he’s 17 years clean and he’s looked in the Devil’s eyes and kicked his ass, and MJF ain’t no devil. MJF says that Dustin has worked 37 long years to get out of his dad’s shadow, but he can’t get out of the shadow of his little baby brother. Right hands by Dustin! Pull apart brawl here as MJF kicks Dustin low behind the security.

Mariah May joins the commentary desk.

Match #3. Queen Aminata vs. Toni Storm

Toni Storm is portraying Mariah May in tonight’s match, so let’s go. Quick commercial break early and Storm fires some elbow drops in and head scissors Aminata off the top, followed by a shotgun dropkick. Jackknife cover by Aminata gets two. Overhand chop by Storm. By Aminata. By Storm. By Aminata. Now both women decide to trade overhand rights. Aminata with a low German suplex that sends Storm to the bottom rope, and Aminata follows with a running sliding shin shot to the face. Two count. Storm counters with a DDT and It’s Gonna Be May. Running hip attack in the corner and MayDay finishes this one.

Winner: Toni Storm

Rating: **1/4. Fine little match here, with Storm building momentum .

Renee joins Toni Storm in the ring, who mimics all of Mariah May’s catchphrases. May

It’s a Chris Jericho New York Minute. It didn’t take long for Hobbs to show up and we’ve got another brawl between he and Big Bill.

Match #4. Swerve Strickland vs. Ricochet

Swerve hits the stage and Ricochet blasts him from behind with a chair. A second time. Running knee to the face by Ricochet. Vertigo. One, two, no! Pump kick to the face by Ricochet and a backbreaker. European uppercut and another backbreaker, as Ricochet is taking his time here. Leap frog by sweve but Ricochet catches him in mid-air with a dropkick to the stomach. Ricochet throws Swerve into the guard rail and follows up with a suicide dive. Both guys are on the LED board now as Ricochet looks for a back body drop, or a hurricanrana, and Swerve powerbombs him on the LED board! Catapult underneath the turnbuckle by Swerve as we head to commercial. Swerve goes up top but Ricochet superkicks his legs out. Running Code Breaker by Ricochet as Swerve hangs from the middle rope. Low dropkick by Ricochet, who’s continuing to take his time. Backflip by Ricochet and an enziguiri. Swerve counters a Death Valley Driver with a powerslam for two. Ricochet tries to go low on Swerve but Swerve counters with a release German suplex. Rolling Thunder Flatliner by Ricochet and the Housecall connects! Swerve Stomp! One, two, no! Neckbreaker over the top by Ricochet and a German suplex on the apron! Springboard 450 by Ricochet gets two. Shooting Star Press to the back by Ricochet! Two count. Ricochet thinks Spirit Gun but Swerve counters with a Housecall. Ricochet gets the knees up as Swerve goes for the Swerve Stomp and Ricochet finishes with the Spirit Gun.

Winner: Ricochet

Rating: ***3/4. Fun main event here that seems like the top of the iceberg with these two, and that’s a good thing.

After the match, Ricochet steals Prince Nana’s robe.
