AEW Dynamite 7/30/25
Live from the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois! An excellent video package detailing the Hangman and Moxley rematch tonight.
Match #1. Tag Team Tournament: The Young Bucks vs. The OutRunners
The Young Bucks get the jobber entrance already in the ring, and The OutRunners mount then in the corner and deliver ten punches. Bucks are back with a pair of suicide dives, though. Double back elbows to Turbo and the Bucks hit the double bicep. Matt tries a suplex but his back is bothering him, so he tags Nick, and Nick can’t do it either, so they try a double suplex, but get suplexed and Truth gets the tag. Right hands by Truth and dropkicks to everyone. Draping neckbreaker/senton atomico combo by the Bucks, and a cannonball/enziguiri combo to Truth. Escalera to Turbo as Nick screams in Tony Schiavone’s ear, and we go to commercial. Risky Business to Truth as we return from break. Two count. Truth counters More Bang For Your Buck and makes the tag to Turbo. Right hands. Right hands. Right hands. Body slam. Body slam. Running back elbows to everyone. Northern Light’s Bomb to Nick. YOU SONUVABITCH by The OutRunners but Nick waits and superkics the hands. Running clothesline/bulldog combo the Bucks by Floyd. Total Recall attempt but the Bucks counter with a superkick party. TURBO HULKS UP. DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE! YOU SONUVABITCH! DOUBLE BICEP ELBOW DROP! Nick low bridges Turbo and sends him to the floor, before following up with a moonsault and an outside-in facebuster to Truth. Assisted Sliced Bread by the Bucks. Just the tip! Two count. Matt low blows Truth behind the referees back! Referee shoves Nick and Truth rolls him up for two. Superkick by Nick but he misses and hits Matt! Total Recall! One, two, no! Nick breaks it up. Matt sends Truth into Turbo and rolls him up for two. Enziguiri by Nick from the apron and Truth stumbles right into Matt, and right into the TK Driver! One, two, three!
Winners: The Young Bucks
Rating: ***1/2. Had a lot of fun with this one, and I think The OutRunners are the only team that can pull off that 80’s tag team feel in modern era, and do it right. The Bucks still make everything they do look effortless.
Kazuchika Okada’s music hits and he claps his way down to the ring. Okada helps the Young Bucks jump The OutRunners. Swerve’s music hits and The Bucks bail, leaving Okada by himself. Okada is in trouble and Swerve thinks Housecall, but The Bucks pull him out to safety. Swerve stomps The Bucks and Okada from the top rope!
Mark Briscoe is with Renee, but Ricochet and the Gates of Agony show up. Briscoe is going to dispose of Ricochet, tonight, but he’s still coming from MJF. AH HA. LOSERRR – Ricochet.
MJF is here, but in the back. MJF says there’s no heat, and he tries to apologize to Shelton Benjamin for Bobby Lashley’s attitude. MVP isn’t here tonight, and he’s pretty disgusted with MJF. Shelton has the watch that MJF gave him, and he knows its a piece of junk. The only reason MJF isn’t laid out is because MVP stuck his next out for him, but as of now, MJF is… out!
Tony Schiavone welcomes Christian Cage to the ring. “Tony, my name is Christian Cage, and I am… an asshole.”
“That’s a shoot.” – Taz.
Cage doesn’t care who’s hurt, he’s obsessed with becoming the champion. At Revolution, Cage signed the contract, hit the spear, looked at the canvas.. and he saw a glimpse of his past. For one split second, Cage became an asshole.. with feelings. It cost him, and cost him everything. You try to piece it together, but you can’t. Cage says that Nick and Kip haven’t earned the right to question him. Why didn’t Cage stick to the plan? He didn’t think they were competent enough to pull it off. What would you know about taking risks? Riding Cage’s coattails. Copeland reminded everyone what Cage said and did. Talking about his children, crippling him, his wife. Were the things that Cage said really that bad? Copeland did a bunch of unsavory things in his career, and look at the amount of success on his walls should remind him. Cage then makes a gaping hole comparison when speaking about Mama Wayne. Yikes. What’s going to happen when Nick Wayne has to answer for all the things he’s done? Cage has always answered the bell, but Nick, Kip, Mama Wayne… especially you Nick… Nick has more talent than Cage has ever had and Cage has protected him from everything. Now and forever, Nick thinks he’s the face of AEW? You’ll have to go through Christian Cage to get there. Nick Wayne… you already have one dead father, and now, you have a father that is dead to you. I. Disown. You.
Christian walks up the ramp and Mama Wayne is there to distract him, as Nick Wayne blasts him with the ROH World TV Title. Kip and Nick blast Christian with the ConChairTo!
Match #2. AEW World Heavyweight Championship: Hangman Page (c) vs. Jon Moxley
Nobody is allowed at ringside for this one, and we’re getting to business. The pace is slow to start, jockeying back and forth for position. Moxley taunts Page so Page fires in some heavy elbows in the corner and then both guys trade about a dozen hard chops. Moxley rolls to the outside and Page clotheslines him over into the timekeeper’s area. Back in the ring, a sliding lariat by Page gets two. Hair whip by Moxley and a German suplex. Moxley grinds the knee into the face of Page before mounting him in the corner and delivering some punches. Thai clinch and some knees by Moxley, and another German suplex. Big boot by Moxley and another German suplex. One more German by Moxley but Page backflips and lands on his feet and drills Moxley with a rolling elbow. Fallaway slam by Page and a double jump lariat. Plancha to the floor by Page. Back in the ring, a Death Valley Driver by Page gets a two count. Page takes a second to compose himself and Moxley locks in a kimura, but Page gets to the ropes. Pop up powerbomb by Page! Two count. Moxley rolls to the outside and Page follows, but Moxley throws him into the steel steps. Piledriver by Moxley on the steel steps! Commercial break. Back from commercial and Moxley has the crossface locked in. Page fights his way out but Moxley delivers some round kicks and elbows. Rolling elbow by Page. One by Moxley. Page. Moxley. Page. Moxley. Back and forth they go. Big boot by Page and a back drop driver. Lariat by Page! Page rolls to the apron and he loads up the Buckshot, but Moxley dropkicks him to the floor. Moxley clears the announcer’s table. Page counters a piledriver into the Deadeye! Lariat inside the ring by Page. Two count. Page moonsaults over Moxley and picks him up in a tombstone! Two count. Moxley captures the ankle and locks in a bulldog choke! Page now needs to fight to the ropes but Moxley counters with a gator roll. Power guillotine by Moxley but Page gets to his feet. Page counters with the Labell Lock! Moxley inches his way to the bottom rope and uses his feet to get there. Barely. Piledriver on the apron by Moxley! Moxley drags him back in the ring and thinks about another piledriver and nails it. A Gotch Style piledriver, in fact. Two count! Page kicks Moxley to the floor and moonsaults off the turnbuckle! Page thinks Buckshot but Moxley counters, now Page counters into the Deadeye, but the referee gets kicked in the face and taken out. The Death Riders are headed to the ringside area but security is here to stop it. Marina Shafir throws the title in to Moxley on the far side as Page thinks Buckshot, and Moxley blasts him with the belt! One, two, no! Marina Shafir gets ejected from the ringside area and Claudio pulls her to safety, as security throws out the rest of the Death Riders. DARBY ALLIN IS ON THE BALCONY! DARBY DIVES ON TO SECURITY AND THE DEATH RIDERS! Back inside the ring… Buckshot! Moxley escapes out of the Deadeye into the rear naked choke. Moxley thinks Gotch Style Piledriver but Page counters with a Deadeye! Buckshot! One, two, three!
Winner and STILL AEW World Champion: Hangman Page
Rating: ****1/4. Excellent championship match, and the rightful guy won. Seems like we’re setting up Darby vs. Moxley, and it’ll be good to see the Death Riders in something new and fresh. Page continues to be the face of AEW.
Match #3. Toni Storm & Alex Windsor vs. Athena & Billie Starkz
Face buster and a hook kick by Starkz. Side headlock takedown by Storm and a shoulder block. Basement dropkick by Storm and a backbreaker. Storm and Windsor locks arms and Waltz to the corner, and delivers a pair of boots to Athena. Double clothesline to Starkz. DDT through the ropes to Starkz! Two count as Athena makes the save. Cannonball by Windsor off the apron to Athena. Starkz comes back and catapults Windsor into an Athena spinebuster! Commercial. Back from break and Athena holds Windsor as Starkz double stomps her from the top rope. Big headbutt by Windsor and both women are down. Athena gets the tag and misses a senton. Starkz pulls Storm from the apron and Windsor fires up with a misdirection and a big lariat. Liger bom by Windsor! Two count. Discus lariat by Windsor to Athena. Starkz breaks up the pin with a senton from the top! Everyone is down but Storm gets the tag. Shotgun dropkick to Starkz. Two. Hip attack to Athena and Mongolian chops to Starkz. German suplex by Storm and a running hip attack in the corner! Athena makes the blind tag and hits the O Face out of nowhere! One, two, three!
Winners: Athena & Billie Starkz
Rating: ***1/4. Really fun tag match here. These four women continue to work very well together and any combination of them is awesome. Athena builds some momentum going into her eventual showdown with Stor.
Renee is in the back with Hangman Page. Welp, here’s MJF. MJF says Hangman did nothing wrong, except call him a coward last week. Hangman is the coward in this scenario, because he won’t give MJF a shot. Page says MJF has to go through Mark Briscoe to get a title shot.
Match #4. Ricochet vs. Mark Briscoe
Quick start here with an enziguiri by Briscoe and some stiff uppercuts. Ricochet cuts Briscoe off with a running back elbow. Hard chops by Briscoe and a vertical suplex gets two. Hammer throw in the corner by Briscoe and Ricochet tries to roll to the outside but gets stopped. Body slam by Briscoe. Ricochet goes up top but gets uppercut to the floor. Briscoe thinks about a dive but the Gates of Agony are here and cause a distraction. Dropkick by Ricochet sends Briscoe to the floor, before following up with a suicide dive as we go to commercial. Back from break and Ricochet grabs a chair but the referee grabs it from him. Briscoe fights back with right hands now and back flips Ricochet before slapping the top of the head. Briscoe hits the ropes but Toa Leona pulls the rope down and Briscoe lands hard on the floor. Corkscrew plancha by Ricochet to the floor. Back in the ring, springboard clothesline by Ricochet gets two. Briscoe ducks the Spirit Gun and clotheslines Ricochet to the floor. Spicy dropkick by Briscoe hits Bishop Kaun. Briscoe sets up a chain in the ring and dives off of it, taking out Ricochet and Toa. Big lariat by Briscoe! Two count. Briscoe thinks Jay Driller but settles for a lariat. Briscoe goes up top for the Froggy Bow but Toa shoves Briscoe off as Kaun distracts the referee. Vertigo by Ricochet! Two count. Gates of Agony get on the apron but Brody King and Bandido are here and they fight the GOA to the back. Cradle by Briscoe back inside the ring gets two. Pump kick by Ricochet. Superkick. Diving enziguri by Ricochet! Lariat by Briscoe! JAy Driller! One, two, three!
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Rating: ***3/4. This one… absolutely ruled. Briscoe got his win back and Ricochet very rarely loses, so this felt big. Briscoe continues to build momentum ahead of his showdown with MJF.
Briscoe grabs the mic and says we just getting started. MJF! You brought Jay’s name forth once, shame on him. Twice, shame on Mark if he doesn’t obliterate your ass. Briscoe says he needs help, he never felt like this before. Mark may never see his brother again, because Jay is chilling in a mansion in Heaven, and if Mark kills MJF, he won’t see him there.
LET’S DO THIS RIGHT NOW MJF!
MJF’s music hits, but he’s not coming out. MJF senses that Mark dropped the comedy routine, but he won’t take him serious. Now, MJF has to prove a point because Hangman says MJF can’t do it. Next week, it’s Mark Briscoe vs. MJF. If… Mark will make it.
MJF attacks Mark from behind! Low blow to Briscoe and some ground and pound. MJF puts on the Dynamite Diamond Ring, but here’s Hangman to make the save. Boot to MJF! MJF almost walks into a Jay Driller but he scurries to the back!
Final Thoughts: Top to bottom, excellent episode of Dynamite tonight. Every segment had a purpose, we got a heck of a championship match, build for next week, advances in the tag team tournament… not much more you can ask from a weekly TV show. 9/10.Â
