AEW is officially bringing Grand Slam to France for the first time.
The company announced that AEW Grand Slam: France will take place on October 6 at Adidas Arena in Paris, featuring tapings for both Dynamite and Collision. The venue can accommodate approximately 8,000 fans.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale Friday, August 28, with presale opportunities also being offered to AEW Insiders.
Tony Khan explained that France became a natural destination for AEW after seeing the number of French fans who have traveled to London for the company’s events.
“There are so many great wrestling fans in France, and a lot of fans from France have made the trek to London to see AEW, and we believe there’s a lot of excitement around All Elite Wrestling in Paris, and it just felt like this would be the perfect time to launch with a huge event,” Khan said.
Khan is hopeful the Paris show can lead to additional events in the country, with AEW looking to “continue to make Paris a major live event site” moving forward.
Will Ospreay also spoke about AEW expanding into France, having previously wrestled in the country and experienced its fanbase firsthand. Ospreay described his previous appearances there as “absolutely breathtaking” and compared the atmosphere to that of a football crowd.
“I don’t need to watch [the market] because I’ve experienced it before, and I just know the moment that we go over there and the bell goes off, the French fans are going to let us know they want us to keep coming back,” Ospreay said.
The Paris event will mark the ninth installment of AEW’s Grand Slam series, which has previously held events in New York, Brisbane, Sydney and Mexico City.
