Kyle O’Reilly and Claudio Castagnoli have punched their tickets to the semifinals of the AEW Continental Challenge Cup.
The final two quarterfinal matches took place on the August 22 episode of AEW Collision, with O’Reilly facing Orange Cassidy and Castagnoli taking on Daniel Garcia.
Cassidy vs. O’Reilly opened the show, with the finish seeing O’Reilly briefly consider stomping on Cassidy’s injured foot before deciding against it. Cassidy attempted to capitalize with a roll-up, but O’Reilly escaped and transitioned into an ankle lock, forcing Cassidy to submit.
Later in the show, Castagnoli secured his spot in the semifinals with a victory over Garcia, also picking up the submission win with an ankle lock.
With the quarterfinal round now complete, the semifinal matches will see O’Reilly take on Nigel McGuinness, while Castagnoli will face fellow Death Riders member Jon Moxley. Both matches are scheduled for the upcoming edition of AEW Dynamite in Glasgow, Scotland.
Also announced for Dynamite is a singles match between Jack Perry and Swerve Strickland.
The match stems from the August 15 episode of Collision, where Strickland confronted Perry following his Continental Challenge Cup loss to Moxley. Strickland told Perry that he wasn’t ready to walk among killers like him.
Perry responded on this week’s Collision by issuing a challenge to Strickland for Dynamite in Glasgow. AEW later made the match official.
Also added to Wednesday’s All In: London “go-home” Dynamite show are appearances by MJF and Andrade El Idolo.
