--------------------

As we head into Florida Primaries, it's becoming quite evident to me... The Republican Party wants Mitt Romney to win no matter what. As seen form this week, several former House members and even 1996 Presidential canididate, Bob Dole, spoke out against Newt Gingrich. But why?

First, let me ask you this... If President Barack Obama was so vulnerable as an incumbent, why aren't Sarah Palin, Chris Christie, Mitch Daniels, John Thume, Jeb Bush, and other popular name Republicans not running in 2012? In my opinion, the Republican Party knows of the difficulty in defeating Barack Obama in 2012 and believes in the ease of winning 2016 with a clean slate. There is a grand assumption that the European Union is about to implode and furthermore, the United States Trillion dollar deficits will cause problems in the next 4 yeras as well. Why inherit those problems?

I believe we've seen this before... If you're telling me that Bob Dole and John Kerry were the absolute best candidates in 1996 and in 2004, you're kidding me. The resources of an incumbent President are difficult to overcome and chances are that Barack Obama will raise and spend $1 Billion for the first time in a Presidential election. Why bother putting out your serious candidates in 2012 when Democrat favorability might be weakened in 2014.

I believe the Republican Party is SANDBAGGING 2012 to wait for 2016. In fact, I guarantee this is the case. Why? Because Mitt Romney can't win. Barack Obama is going to eat Romney's lunch in 2012 because he'll lampoon Romney as the following 2 things:

1) Romney = Wallstreet CEO. He's worth $200 Million+ and he's the type that thinks that $10,000 is just lying around to bet away and that speeches for over $300,000 grand is chump change. That, and he has no problem firing people, according to his quote, and his work at Bain Capital will be exploited against him (even though I have no problem with his Bain Capital work). Fact is, he worked for a company that made profit from reorganizing companies and most of which resulted in lots of workers being fired.

2) Romney = MORMON. Obama has proven to have good friends in the media as shown by the non-stop great press he's received from NBC News, but many other news outlet do in fact lean liberal. Once Romney gets the nomination, I can just see the Newsweek cover that will ask the question "Can a Mormon Be President?". Mormonism is going to be attacked HARD in 2012, all the while Obama has perfect attendance in Christian churches for 2012.

Romney is TOAST if he gets the nomination and I believe that the Republican Party knows this...

And that's what makes Newt Gingrich an absolute threat to those thirsty for 2016. Newt getting the nomination puts the Republican Party in better shape to win 2012 than Romney, in my opinion. There is more upside with Newt because he has more credibility as a Conservative on all fronts (fiscal, social, and the military) than Romney, but I think Newt's biggest asset will be debating Obama. If Newt can debate Obama 3 times, Obama will struggle because that's Newt's strong suit and Newt has the credibility of a politically managing strong economies while being in the House while also helping to balance the budget for 1998 and then 3 years thereafter.

BUT - Newt is a threat, too, because he does carry a lot of baggage. Being on his third wife and exploiting the Washington DC game for his own personal financial gain are weaknesses. His favorability polling numbers are not that high with Americans and by him getting the Presidential nomination, the thought is that House and Senate candidates could go down in flames with him. However, if Mitt Romney is going to lose anyway, which also puts House/Senate candidates at risk anyway, why not go with Newt instead?

The Republican Party wants 2016 instead. They know that Obama in his second term will face either a Debit Crisis overseas in Europe and/or one of his own here in the United States. Mathematics will catch up to Obama and allow for someone to "save" the United States in 2016. Romney will get exploited for his wealth/business practices and being a Mormon, so thus he's the perfect loser for 2012 before Christie, Daniels, Palin, Thume, and others decide to actually run in 2012.

Time to get used to Barack Obama as our president for another 4 years unless Newt Gingrich gets the nomination and takes it to Obama in the debates. But it's clear to me that the Republican Party wants Romney to win the nomination so that he can lose to Obama but keep the House majority and possibly gain a Senate majority in the process... And then, they'll take the 2016 Presidential Election seriously when Obama is gone.
