--------------------

New Hampshire results are statistically significant for calling Mitt Romney to win New Hampsire with around 35% of the vote with Ron Paul finishing quite well with around 24%. Jon Huntsman, who put all of his eggs in the New Hampshire basket, scored 3rd place at around 17% of the vote.

The biggest disaster, however, is Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum both getting around 10%. Newt Gingrich has been in ATTACK mode on Mitt Romney in New Hampshire but it failed because Newt is disliked among many Republicans. Even Rush Limbaugh on his radio show today was questioning the aggressiveness of Newt's attacks. Meanwhile, Rick Santorum finished 2nd in Iowa and made no dent in New Hampshire... All it took is for Santorum's Bush-era spending votes and hardline social conservative views to come out, and he's already toast.

Rick Perry is getting around 1% of the vote. OUCH. Perry has openly mocked the importance of New Hampshire and has put all of his eggs in the South Carolina basket.

Mitt Romney is too strong on resources right now to take down and the reason he threatens to practically END the Republican selection process after South Carolina is because for each time he wins, his fundraising increases while the other candidates are spending excessively to cool his momentum. I think the mere fact that Santorum/Perry/Newt are splitting the vote helps Mitt too much, while Ron Paul has his own segment of the conservative basis that he'll always win.

I expect Mitt to win South Carolina in a close battle, but it will become clear to Gingrich and Perry that they have no shot to win the Primary and they'll drop out. Santorum will try to take their support, but in my opinion, Mitt Romney will only become stronger OR those voters will consider Ron Paul.

I think it wouldn't hurt for Mitt Romney to think about Ron Paul for Commerce or Treasury Secretary... Seriously.

Either way, I actually think this week has been GOOD for Mitt Romney. Newt Gingrich's attacks, primarily, are getting out the BAD NEWS now for Romney so that it softens the blows when Barack Obama starts throwing punches. A great example is the 2008 Election when Obama and Hillary Clinton punched each other hard. Mrs. Clinton put the negatives of Obama out there early so that they became old news by the time John McCain repeated them.

Still - Barack Obama is going to RAISE and SPEND $1 Billion for this election and he'll use that money to paint Mitt Romney as the "Corporate Boss" and he'll also funnel through the media how weird the Mormon faith is. Get ready for lots of Class Warfare and attacks on Mitt's Religion. I can already see the Newsweek covers... Romney has an uphill battle ahead of him...
