Former WCW superstar and later WWE wrestler (yeah, I said it) Bill Goldberg caused a stir in the Internet Wrestling Committee (IWC) when he replied to a Jim Ross Tweet:

@JRsBBQ: Goldberg vs. Lesnar at WM29 would be miraculous ie HIGHLY UNLIKELY.

@Goldberg: ......I'd do it

Let's go back to 2004 when Bill Goldberg first wrestled Brock Lesnar at the neverending Wrestlemania known as Wrestlemania 20. Goldberg, heading into Wrestlemania 20, was about to have his 1 year contract expire. He appeared the night after one night after Wrestlemania 19 to contront the Rock and his last scheduled appearance was, in fact, Wrestlemania 20.

Brock Lesnar, as we've discussed recently, is a different matter. He was still contracted with the WWE after Wrestlemania. Brock was becoming burned out by the WWE schedule, the physical wear and tear, and as MRTITO.com has exclusively reported (I've said it on LoP for years, too), I've heard it from sources that he was outspoken about many former WCW superstars getting special treatment with lighter schedules (Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Goldberg). He was still young in 2004 and wanted to begin to test if he was wasting his time as a pro wrestler.

He gave the WWE notice before No Way Out 2004 (hence the Eddie Guerrero title dropping), but the WWE actually booked Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg in advance. It was discussed during late 2003 as a possible Wrestlemania 20 match-up, as you can see from this Survivor Series 2003 segment. I'm quite sure that with Goldberg's contract expiring, Lesnar was to beat Goldberg at Wrestlemania 20.

With Lesnar now wanting to leave the WWE, and the rumors of it leaking throughout the internet, this Wrestlemania 20 match suddenly became more interesting than what a Goldberg vs. Lesnar match could have provided. Better yet, it was in front of a rabid Madison Square Garden crowd in New York City.

I find that the addition of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to the match is fascinating because they had Austin stun both Lesnar and Goldberg after the match, but days later, the WWE announced that they were severing ties with Austin. OOPS!
