Damn it, I was hoping to take it easy here on Friday... After all, it's the Holiday Season and I wouldn't want to write a column where I would have to, yet again, say I TOLD YOU SO when it comes to everyone's favorite wrestler, CM Punk.

But then there's this news reporting...

Daniel Pena transcribing the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
F4WOnline.com reports that WWE officials are considering taking the WWE Championship off CM Punk due to 'terrible ratings patterns' for his weekly segments on Raw.

The matter was broached prior to Sunday's WWE TLC pay-per-view event, which saw Punk ultimately retain the strap in a Triple Threat Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match against Alberto Del Rio and The Miz. The trend of lackluster ratings for his segments continued the following night on Raw as the program's overrun, which saw the Straight Edge Superstar, Daniel Bryan and Zack Ryder overcame The Miz, Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler, only gain 59,000 viewers.

Sigh... Let me just remind everybody about some ratings history, copied and pasted from a previous Blog is Tito entry:

RAW Ratings History - "Summer of Punk"
6/20/11: 3.1
6/27/11: 3.1 (CM Punk "shoots")
7/4/11: 2.4 (4th of July holiday)
7/11/11: 2.9
7/18/11: 3.2 (post Money in the Bank)
7/25/11: 3.2
8/1/11: 3.3
8/8/11: 3.1
8/15/11: 3.3 (post SummerSlam)

8/22/11: 3.0
8/29/11: 3.1
9/5/11: 3.0 (Labor Day)
9/12/11: 2.7

Funny, ratings went UP when CM Punk WAS champion... But it's OK to not give him credit for not only an increased Money in the Bank PPV buyrate, but clocking several 3.3 ratings at the peak of his push during July/August.

How convenient to SCAPEGOAT CM Punk for his Championship reign since Survivor Series 2011 after John Cena and Alberto Del Rio's WWE Title reigns scored regular 3.0 and even below ratings. But why aren't we depushing them? In fact, the WWE is in a sheer panic right now that they can't get Alberto Del Rio over as a drawing champion.

I'm sorry, but who HEADLINED the 2nd WORST SELLING PAY PER VIEW in the WWE's history again called WWE Vengeance 2011? Why, that was John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio!

The FACT is that Monday Night Football SURGED with 7 million new viewers for the Steelers vs. 49ers game. RAW was hurt by that, even though the opening segment with Punk/Bryan/Ryder/Ziggler/Miz/Del Rio scored a high 3.3 rating during the 9:00pm when going head-to-head with Monday Night Football. Why isn't Randy Orton getting punished from his never-ending push after losing 700,000+ viewers this past Monday instead? Heck, with Orton, he's been a disaster of a draw for the Smackdown brand, especially their houseshows.

I've said it from DAY ONE. WWE doesn't want to keep CM Punk on top. He's not one of their guys that they've molded in Ohio Valley Wrestling or Florida Championship Wrestling, the WWE's developmental territories. He's a wrestler who learned how to wrestle his way, without the WWE spoonfeeding, and he's getting over in spite of the WWE's booking efforts.

It's amazing... Once CM Punk has a title, the WWE panics and thinks that the success won't last. It's a shame that they didn't consider "failure" for another title that the WWE gave this year: Chief Operating Officer.

Merry ****ing Christmas, McMahon family and hangers-on.

Just Chill... Till the Next Episode...
