-------------------- One of my favorite parts of the week... It's WEDNESDAY and that means Unsolved Mysteries FIX! Just like last week, MRTITO.com will feature a high profile celebrity case as featured on Unsolved Mysteries. This week's fix features the late Tupac Shakur who was shot repeatedly after a Mike Tyson boxing match in Las Vegas on September 7th, 1996 and then passed away 6 days later. As you'll see from the Unsolved Mysteries videos below, everyone on the Vegas strip and Tupac's own crew went "deaf, dumb, and blind". To this very day, Tupac's case remains "unsolved", as his his chief East Coast rival, the Notorious B.I.G. who himself was gunned down on March 9th, 1997. I always consider that Rap peaked in the 1990's, but I'm sure I'll get plenty of debate on that. As I was getting out of my hairband phase as a kid, as a teenager, Grunge and West Coast rap (NWA and then Dre & Ice Cube going solo) was music that mattered to me because it was brutally honest compared to the non-stop party that the 1980's music was. Then, as the 1990's moved on, Tupac and Biggie arrived and were instant hits. Tupac was a bit too edgy for my tastes, but there are many songs of his that I enjoyed. I love Notorious B.I.G., as his music is so smooth and still holds up really well to this day. The whole East Coast vs. West Coast thing flamed up throughout 1996, as I recall, and I remember fellow classmates throwing up the gang signs for each coast for their own support. Idiotic, but those were the times and Tupac and Biggie's rivalry really gripped the music world and pop culture back then. But then, both were shot and killed in a very short time and in my opinion, Rap music hasn't been the same since. Sure, there are a handful of artists that can break out individual songs, but I could listen to the album Life After Death from top to bottom (both discs!) and enjoy every second of it. I adore the song "Sky's the Limit" by Biggie. Both Tupac and Biggie's murders remain UNSOLVED to this very day and that's insane. Great stuff that is on the level of Unsolved Mysteries quality. Notorious B.I.G. - VH1 Behind the Music - PLAYLIST Sucks, very much, that both were shot and killed. As Eminem said in his lyrics of Marshall Mathers, it's like watching a bunch of cheap imitations these days and getting dollars that should have been there's like they've switched wallets.
