WWE nXt Results
April 19th, 2017

On commentary tonight, at Full Sail University, are Tom Phillips, “Showtime” Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness

Opening Segment

“Glorious!” It’s the nXt champion, Bobby Roode, making a grand entrance and his first since successfully defending the title against Shinsuke Nakamura at Takeover: Orlando.
Roode says he sold out the Amway Center and allowed 15000 people to sit there and watch the best in the business do what he does best. By defeating Nakamura, he ensured the fate of the brand is in his control. The Roode era has truly begun.

He talks about Nakamura’s farewell last week and how all the fans sang his theme song, and it was pathetic. You know who wasn’t on the stage celebrating the former champ? Bobby Roode! He wasn’t standing there because he didn’t want to listen to the crap that came out of Nakamura’s mouth- the lie that he left nXt. He was embarrassed so badly by Roode’s two wins over him that he HAD to leave.

None of you people deserve to be in his nXt. None of the roster belong in his nXt. From this moment on, you can choose to jump on board Roode’s nXt or hit the bricks, like Nakamura.

Suddenly, Hideo Itami’s music hits and out he comes in suit and tie. They stare each other down until Itami slugs him in the face. Roode looks surprised but then he laughs, jaws at him a bit, and takes off his jacket. He rolls up his sleeves as Itami simply stands and watches Roode yell at him. Itami picks him up and hits the TKO!

One cool point for Itami’s return and one cool point for using actions instead of words. For everyone wondering who Roode’s next challenger would be, I think we’ve found the answer. Would be nice to see a #1 Contender’s match, something we haven’t seen for months in this division, but Itami has veteran status. I think GM William Regal will honour his past track record and deem him worthy of the next Takeover main event in Chicago, in May. Roode will not forget this disrespectful encounter.

Coming Up: Eric Young of SAnitY vs. “The Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger in a steel cage, and Aliyah & Liv Morgan vs. Peyton Royce & Billie Kay

Backstage, the current United Kingdom champ Tyler Bate and 205 Live’s Jack Gallagher chat. Gallagher commends Bate for his success in the UK tournament and thanks Bate for the opportunity to win the UK Championship. Bate says he’s looking forward to successfully defending the UK Championship. They shake hands.

Second Segment

Referees and medical staff are checking on Bobby Roode in the ring after he received the TKO from Hideo Itami. He gets up on his own and slowly exits.

Earlier today, at the WWE Performance Center, Andrade “Cien” Almas strolls into the weight room to antagonize the newly returned Drew McIntyre. Tom Phillips suggests that it sounds like they’ll have a match next week.

Singles Match: Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Danny Burch

Burch wrestled in the UK Tournament earlier this year. Showtime says Burch can get the job done in this match, having wrestled with him in nXt back in the day. Cien shows off by lounging on the middle rope as he is wont to do. Burch counters his way out of an arm twist and throws Cien over his shoulders to the mat.

The two reach for each other’s hand and Burch slaps Cien’s hand. Cien pushes him off the ropes, slides to the mat, and Burch skips over him. On the return, Cien jumps and Burch side-steps and slams his leg to the mat. Burch wags his finger at Cien and the crowd appreciates it.

He goes for the powerslam, countered by Cien and the exchange finishes with a clothesline by Cien. He slaps Burch hard, across the chest, in the corner. He stomps on his shoulders as the crowd boos. He taunts the crowd, taking his time, and stomps Burch again. Burch tries to shake it off. He gets back to his feet and nails Cien with quick European uppercuts. He turns around to brag and Cien clubs him in the back of the neck. Idiot.

Running high kick to the face of Burch by Cien. Double knees into the corner on Burch. Cien follows this up with the hammerlock DDT. 1-2-3.

Winner: Andrade “Cien” Almas via pinfall in 3 minutes

One cool point for Cien because for all the taunting and posturing he did, it didn’t affect his ability to get the victory. When Burch tried to do it, it was the turning point of the match. Some guys can get away with arrogance…Cien seems to be one of them. Important for him to get a win after losing to Aleister Black at Takeover. He may well be the new kingmaker in nXt.

Promo: A highlight package on Asuka is shown, interspersed with interview clips from her peers, discussing her undefeated record, her in-ring prowess, and her dominance of the Women’s Division. At the end, the ladies notice she’s getting a little cocky and that could be her downfall.

Coming Up: Aliyah & Liv Morgan vs. Peyton Royce & Billie Kay

Third Segment

Promo: A highlight package on “The Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger’s feud with SAnitY is shown.

Tag Team Match: Aliyah & Liv Morgan vs. Peyton Royce & Billie Kay

Kay and Morgan begin this match. They lock up. Kay with the early advantage. Off the ropes, Morgan leaps over Kay. Kay stops her momentum. Morgan charges and eats a hip toss. The Iconic Duo cheer together. Morgan rolls up Kay for a 1 count and then Morgan keeps Kay between her legs, rolling her around and around and around the ring. She attempts 2 pinfalls along the way but Kay escaped both of them.

Tag to Aliyah. Powerslam by Morgan and a top rope leg drop from Aliyah! 1-2- kickout by Kay! Kay reverses an Irish whip from Aliyah and clocks her in the face. 1-2- kickout by Aliyah. Royce gets the tag. The two of them execute double knee smashes on Aliyah’s arms. Royce covers her for a 2 count.

She goes for a powerslam. Aliyah falls out of it and counters with a pinfall attempt. Royce retorts with a spinning heel kick to the face. 1-2- Aliyah kicks out but just barely.

McGuinness thinks it was the left shoulder. Royce picks up Aliyah but she slides down her back and forces her into a roll-up…no, Kay hangs on to her hands and keeps her up until Morgan runs across the ring and dropkicks Kay off the apron.

Meanwhile, Aliyah succeeds in rolling up Royce for the win.

Winners: Aliyah & Liv Morgan via pinfall in 5 minutes

Post-match, the Iconic Duo scream and shout in frustration, basically having a temper tantrum.

One cool point for Liv Morgan making the most of her minutes. I’m not a fan of her but I can appreciate that she was the highlight of the match with her unique mat rolling move. I think the Iconic Duo are kinda stuck at the moment and I’m not sure if they’re eventually going to get the better of the fan favourites in this feud. It’s too bad because they’d benefit from more time in the ring with Asuka, Nikki Cross and, now, Ruby Riot.

Up Next: The Steel Cage match between Young and Dillinger!

Final Segments

Next Week: Almas vs. McIntyre and the UK Championship match between Tyler Bate (c) and Jack Gallagher

STEEL CAGE Match: Eric Young (w. SAnitY) vs. “The Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger

Dillinger slams the cage door shut and the bell rings to start the match. He is psyched for this opportunity to fight Young with no interference from his group.

The two men trade punches to begin. Young’s attempts to slam Dillinger face-first into the cage are halted. Irish whip into the corner on Young and a back body drop by Dillinger. He slides the right knee pad down, exposing the knee and lifts Young on to his shoulders. Young grabs at Dillinger’s face though and claws at his eye socket and nose to get free. He then successfully slams Dillinger face-first into the cage wall and proceeds to stomp him as…

We go to commercial break.

On the return, Dillinger is being pulled up to his feet by the hair. Young presses Dillinger’s face against the steel cage. He asks for the door to be opened but Dillinger holds him back. Young replies with more kicks to keep Dillinger at bay. He drives his head into the turnbuckle. He lifts up Dillinger from the top turnbuckle, head under his right arm, before throwing him back to the mat. Top rope elbow to the back of the neck. 1-2- Dillinger kicks out.

The fans clap for Dillinger to get up. He does and delivers punches to the gut of Young. He attempts a superkick but Young catches him and tries to slingshot him into the corner. Dillinger lands on the middle rope and begins to climb. Young intercedes and gets knocked down to the mat. He lifts Dillinger from under his legs as the Perfect 10 begins to punch him, and connects with the sitout powerbomb! Only a 2 count though.

Young asks for the cage door to be opened again but Dillinger’s not done yet. Young climbs up the turnbuckle and begins to ascend to the top of the cage. Dillinger stops him and powerslams him from the top rope!

Commercial break

On the return, Dillinger’s found his second wind! He’s chucking Young into all sides of the cage. Stomps to the chest of Young as he lies between the ring ropes and the cage. HUGE superkick on Young and he’s busted open!

Dillinger climbs the turnbuckle and begins to drag himself over the top of the cage. Young meets him on the top turnbuckle and the two trade punches until Young straddles the top of the cage. Dillinger connects with a few right hands. Young fires them right back, slamming Dillinger head first into the top bar of the cage. Young stands up….ELBOW DROP!

Both men lie on the mat, exhausted, until Young crawls over and drapes an arm over Dillinger. 2 count! This one’s not over yet.

Young stands up and Dillinger grabs his right foot. Young grins and slowly brings Dillinger to his feet…it was a fakeout! Dillinger with the Tye-Breaker! He lands far away from Young though and decides to crawl towards the cage door instead of pinning Young. Dain, Wolfe and Cross beat up the referee and close the door in Dillinger’s face. Guess he won’t escape that way.

Suddenly, Roderick Strong and Kassius Ohno rush down the entrance ramp and defend their brother in peril. Ruby Riot drags Cross to the left of the ramp and backstage immediately. Ohno and Strong beat up on Dain. They pull Wolfe off of the cage just before Dain flies into them and smashes them into the cage wall. Then, he proceeds to climb up the cage wall until Dillinger runs into the wall and knocks him to the ramp.

Young whips Dillinger..no, it’s reversed and Young slams into the wall, throwing Wolfe to the floor. Things are really getting out of hand now. Dillinger’s on the opposite turnbuckle from the cage door and he climbs to the top of the cage where Wolfe is climbing to meet him. Dain enters the cage through the door to retrieve Young. Perfect opportunity for Dillinger to fly….crossbody from the top of the cage on half of SAnitY!

He sees Wolfe about to enter the ring from above and quickly crawls out of the cage by the door to safely escape SAnitY!

The crowd throws “10” hands at him as they celebrate. Dillinger does the same as Young writhes in pain on the mat.

Winner: “The Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger via escaping the cage in 15 minutes

Two cool points for both men’s efforts in making their cage match one of the best nXt TV matches in a long time. Happy to see Dillinger overcome Young and his cronies. A lot of the time, the guy who’s leaving is the guy who loses but that would have been sad to watch for a third time, considering SAnitY has had their way with Dillinger for months. Enjoyed the high spots from both men and, like I said, the right guy won.

Probably the most successful long-term feud in nXt during the past year…certainly has been for the mid-card. It’d be great to see more of this in the coming months.

Looking forward to your thoughts and cool point suggestions for tonight’s show.
Peace!
