WWE nXt Results
April 5th, 2017

On commentary tonight, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, are Tom Phillips, “Showtime” Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness

Opening Segment

Singles Match: Peyton Royce w. Billie Kay vs. Aliyah
Aliyah with a takedown and a bridge pin for a 1 count. Another quick count and Royce reaches for advice from Kay. Kay hangs on to her hands as Aliyah tries to pull her away. Aliyah stomps on Kay’s hand and Royce uses that moment to get to her feet and attack Aliyah. She stomps on her in the corner. She puts Aliyah into a modified surfboard stretch inside the ropes until the referee counts to 4.

Royce pushes Aliyah around a little, misses a clothesline and Aliyah quickly executes a few offensive maneuvers. Off the ropes, Aliyah launches herself at Royce, sitting on her chest, pushing her to the mat for a 2 count. Aliyah attempts a leg submission but Royce slaps her in the face and takes out her knee. A few moments later, Royce connects with a fisherman’s suplex and bridges for the pin…1-2-3. It’s over.

Winner: Peyton Royce via pinfall in 3 minutes

One cool point for Royce who continues to show how innovative she can be in the ring with a unique submission move and then that slick fisherman’s suplex finisher. Her confidence increases with every in-ring appearance and I believe this will help her and Kay stay relevant in the women’s division.

Coming Up: Exclusive footage from nXt Takeover: Orlando

Second Segment

Recap: Highlights from the 8-man tag match are shown where SAnitY defeated Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, Ruby Riot and Kassius Ohno, who replaced No Way Jose after he was beat up earlier last Saturday.

Highlights from the nXt Women’s Championship match are shown, which featured Asuka defeating Ember Moon and retaining the championship.

Post-match, WWE.COM caught up with Asuka. She’s asked who would be next. Asuka says she’s still champion…so I guess no one is next.

Coming Up: Oney Lorcan vs a mystery opponent and Heavy Machinery vs. The Bollywood Boyz

Third Segment

“Are You Coming With Me?” by Crown The Empire was an official theme song for Takeover: Orlando.

Recap: Highlights from Aleister Black’s debut match against Andrade “Cien” Almas are shown. Black got the win. We see an Instagram post from Cien where he is seen partying with some ladies later on Saturday night. Phillips speculates that perhaps Cien is spending more time focusing on partying than on his string of recent losses.

Tag Team Match: Heavy Machinery vs. The Bollywood Boyz

Pre-match, we see footage from last week of Heavy Machinery’s victory.

Harv Sihra and Tucker Knight start out this match. Harv is happy to do a little dancing, but Knight is not interested. He catches Harv coming out of the corner and stomps around, squeezing him in a bearhug. Dozovic is tagged in to continue the bearhug. Knight’s tagged back in and Dozovic literally tosses him back to Knight and shakes him around. Harv punches Dozovic in the head which allows him to escape.

Dozovic charges at Harv with a shoulder block, followed quickly by an overhead belly to belly suplex. Harv rolls out and Gurv tags in. He begins dancing, too, but Dozovic shoves him to the mat. He tags in Knight and the two psych up. Both men go off the ropes. Double knees to the head of Gurv. They celebrate and shout to the crowd, receiving a warm reaction.

The Bollywood Boyz have regrouped though and Harv clubs Dozovic’s back from behind. He quickly tags in Gurv and he continues to punch Dozovic in their own corner. They attempt a double team suplex but, instead, Dozovic is the one who double suplexes them!
Dozovic reaches for Knight and tags him in. Knight rushes in and barrels over both Sihras with shoulder tackles. Dropkick on Gurv! Knight toots the horn, runs the ropes and splashes Gurv in their home corner and Harv in the adjacent one. Dozovic tagged in on the first splash. He lifts Gurv sideways across his body. Knight runs the ropes and pushes his own tag partner to the mat, sandwiching Gurv between Dozovic and the mat! That’s a lot of force and Gurv’s not kicking out from that.

Winners: Heavy Machinery via pinfall in 4 minutes

One more cool point for this new and exciting tag team. Love the pairing, love the facial expressions and enthusiasm of the team and they’re trying some different finishing moves, which is great. They should quickly rise through the ranks and, with any luck, will be facing Wolfe and Dain from SAnitY soon. Talk about a match of the titans!

Backstage, Oney Lorcan is asked if he’s concerned about facing a mystery opponent tonight. Lorcan says it doesn’t matter. He’s here to compete, do his job and win.

Coming Up: Exclusive footage from the nXt Championship match between Bobby Roode (c) and Shinsuke Nakamura

Fourth Segment

Check out one of the official theme songs for nXt Takeover: Orlando-- “Come And Get It” by I Prevail.

Recap: Highlights from the Triple Threat nXt Championship Elimination match are shown. #DIY was eliminated first and The Revival second, giving the Authors of Pain the win. They retained the titles.

Post-match, WWE.COM chats with the winners and manager Paul Ellering. Ellering says their victory was a confirmation of the evolution of this team. They have proven themselves now. Instead of wrestling one team, they were given two teams to beat and you can’t stop destiny. The Authors of Pain are going to be a dynasty.

Recap: Highlights from the nXt Championship match between Bobby Roode (c) and Shinsuke Nakamura were shown, accompanied by the pre-match promo. It was a fairly lengthy segment.

Roode can be heard, on the entrance ramp after the match, saying “This is my nXt! Learn to love it.” The fans chant for Nakamura after the match.

A retrospective on Nakamura’s year in nXt is shown.

Post-match, WWE.COM catches up with nXt champion Bobby Roode. He says he told the world exactly what he was going to do: beat Nakamura for the second consecutive time. That’s what he did and at the biggest nXt Takeover in history, 15 000 fans saw Roode take nXt to a new level. It’s going to continue for days, weeks and months to come. Are you ready for that?

Final Segment

Plenty of Takeover: Orlando theme songs to check out. The last one to be mentioned is “Shock Me” by Baroness.

Takeover: Orlando footage reminds viewers that Drew McIntyre was sitting at ringside. ESPN broke the news that day that McIntyre had just signed with nXt. A WWE.COM interview allows McIntyre to reiterate that news to the fans.

Singles Match: Oney Lorcan vs. ???

El Vagabundo makes his debut. He looks strangely similar to Elias Samson, carrying Samson’s guitar over his shoulder, wearing a white and blue luchadore mask. The rest of his attire is black, just like Samson…He prepares to play his guitar and he has a question for the crowd, “who wants to rock with El Vagabundo?”

The crowd chants “Si!” as Vagabundo tells them he has a song. It ends with what it needs is what I am. Lorcan puts his hand on the neck of the guitar, preventing Vagabundo from playing.

Lorcan says that he knows he’s the drifter and Orlando knows he’s the drifter. Lorcan says do us a favour and drift away. Fans actually boo that and start a Vagabundo chant. Vagabundo begins stomping on Lorcan and after they’re separated, the referee calls for the bell.

Powerslam by Vagabundo on Lorcan and the masked wrestler is struggling to keep his match over his face. He throws Lorcan out of the ring and…

We go to commercial break.

On the return, Vagabundo re-enters the ring. Lorcan does too and meets him with a cross chop. Vagabundo slams Lorcan’s head into the turnbuckle and chops him back. Irish whip corner to corner and a running clothesline brings Lorcan to the mat. 1-2- kickout.

Vagabundo stomps Lorcan in the small of the back. He picks him up for a snap suplex and a pinfall attempt, which ends at 2. Vagabundo slows the match down by grabbing Lorcan in a chinlock. Lorcan struggles with this. He’s nowhere close to the ropes he keeps reaching for. Vagabundo breaks the hold and whips Lorcan into the turnbuckle. He rushes and Lorcan evades him. He connects with 2 running hip attacks, then a third, then a fourth and nothing’s knocking Vagabundo off of his feet. Lorcan connects with 7 straight running hip attacks and, finally, Vagabundo falls to his knees.

Vagabundo clotheslines Lorcan from behind as the crowd was cheering for him. He goes for a powerslam but Lorcan slips off of his back and takes off Vagabundo’s mask to reveal it’s Elias Samson! Lorcan is pissed! He launches himself at Samson for a running blockbuster. 1-2-3.

Winner: Oney Lorcan via pinfall in 7 minutes

Tom Phillips questions why Samson is even there because he lost last week’s match to Ohno so he shouldn’t be competing in-ring.

Samson complains with the referee who is instructing him to leave ringside. A security team member approaches Samson and calmly asks him to leave. Samson says this is where he belongs. The security member forcefully removes Samson and leads him backstage and that’s a wrap.

One cool point for the hilarity of Samson masquerading as a luchadore to get another match after his “Loser Leaves Town” match didn’t go so well. Crowd was into it and it was unexpected yet well done. One cool point for Lorcan for being a rough, tough, hard-hitting wrestler. If Samson was wrestling as himself, I think we would’ve seen a very hard-hitting match. Too bad he’s not supposed to be there!

Well, I did alright for my Takeover: Orlando predictions, getting 3 out of 5 right. I didn’t pick the AOP to retain or for Black to win his debut, although I should’ve followed the trend of debuting stars getting victories in their first match.

With Nakamura, Dillinger and The Revival all moving up to the main roster, there are opportunities for current nXt wrestlers or new arrivals to fill their spots. For those of us who are intrigued by how a team rebuilds after losing major stars, the next few months of nXt should be fascinating.

Looking forward to your thoughts, cool point suggestions for the first show after Takeover: Orlando.

Peace!
