WWE nXt Results
December 9th, 2015

On commentary tonight, at Full Sail University, are Rich Brennan, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves.

Opening Segment

Tag Team Match: Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady w. Carmella vs. Corey Hollis & John Skyler

Wow! Hollis and Skyler got an actual ring entrance and were introduced second.

Crowd kicks it off, yelling “How You Doin’?!”. It’s Big Cass laying in to Skyler to begin the match. Cass is all business as usual as he throws Skyler to the mat and then hits a cross corner splash on him. Enzo and Hollis tag in, and Enzo knocks the breath out of Hollis with a crossbody splash off the ropes. He jaws at him and then connects with a standing dropkick. Cass is tagged in and he launches Enzo into Hollis and then gives the big boot to Skyler on the outside. Cass and Enzo initiate Air Enzo off the top rope. He covers for the win.

Winner: Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady via pinfall in 2 minutes and 40 seconds

Post-Match, Enzo asks for the microphone and says that’s how they put food on the table. Dawson & Dash won’t be interfering with how they do that. Enzo says Cass is his A1, his family, doing it since day 1 in nXt. If you take him out, you jeopardize their future. The only people who determine their future are the people in the ring, aka themselves. They know where they’re going. Cass mentions the attack as well but they’ve fought too hard to be stopped now. At Takeover London, they WILL get retribution and WILL walk out nXt Tag Team Champions.

One cool point for the intensity that Enzo & Cass brought to the ring tonight, wrestling-wise and promo-wise. They kicked it up a notch and made me believe that they want the win more than anyone else.

Backstage, it’s Tom Phillips with the villainous vixens, Dana Brooke & Emma. Dana is calm today but Asuka won’t be. Phillips asks if Emma is ready for the match. Emma says that’s not the question. The question is why has the red carpet been rolled out for Asuka since day 1? The revolution didn’t start without the Emmalution, which existed before Bayley, Charlotte, and Asuka. The Emmalution will be the solution at Takeover London. Dana says they might take a closer look at Asuka’s match tonight. She asks Phillips to crouch down so she can pat him on the head. Wonh wonh.

Coming Up: Hype Bros vs. Blake & Murphy and the main event, Finn Balor & Apollo Crews vs. Samoa Joe & Baron Corbin

Promo: A video package is shown for “The Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger.

Second Segment

Singles Match: Asuka vs Deonna Purrazzo.

The two ladies lock up and Asuka quickly throws Purrazzo off of her. They lock up again. Asuka twists the arm. Purrazzo reverses. Asuka reverses and folds the arm behind the back. She converts it into a side headlock, to which Purrazzo responds by somersaulting out of it. Asuka brings her down to the mat for a front headlock, then a pinning attempt and swiftly into an armbar. Purrazzo is able to put her legs on the ropes to break the hold. Asuka moves to striking and Purrazzo fights back.

Just then, Emma & Dana Brooke show up on the stage. Purrazzo tries to capitalize on the opportunity but Asuka knocks her out with a roundhouse kick. Been a long time since I’ve seen a win by TKO. Anyone know the stats on that? Dana & Emma are shocked and disgusted by this. Asuka smiles at them.

Winner: Asuka via knockout in 2 minutes and 56 seconds

One cool point for Asuka winning by TKO because, as Carlito would say, that’s cool. It’s a rare thing but it proved a point to Dana and Emma that they should be very worried about next week’s match in London.

Backstage, the Hype Bros (Zack Ryder & Mojo Rawley) speak to the camera about their match. Rawley says Blake looks like Miss Doubtfire. Ryder corrects him and says they’re going down.

Elsewhere backstage, Alexa Bliss is wearing a weird claw as she laments about the woes of Blake & Murphy, and Alexa’s loss to Bayley. Blake & Murphy say they’re former tag team champions and they can take care of business.

Coming Up: Bayley vs. Peyton Royce

Promo: It’s a black and white video of a guy singing and playing his guitar. It was a pretty good song, in the folk style. One of the readers, last week, said it was Elias Samson. We don’t get a clear shot of the man’s face, but let’s go with that.

Third Segment

Tag Team Match: Hype Bros vs. Blake & Murphy w. Alexa Bliss

Rawley starts by shaking and dancing. Blake waits for him to quit and then the two begin the hand holding, which leads to Blake getting slammed to the mat. As the two go off the ropes, Blake tags Murphy. Both men leap over the running Rawley but on the return, Rawley clotheslines them both. A few moments later, Ryder is tagged in and he connects with a double dropkick through the ropes. Double knees on Murphy once the actions returns to the ring. Beautiful missile dropkick from the top rope. Ryder is about to hit the Broski Boot on Murphy when Blake interferes. Ryder knocks him out of the ring and now it’s Blake who has ended up in the opposite corner. The crowd woos and Ryder succeeds with his patented maneuver.

Murphy returns to the ring and hits Ryder from behind. He starts beating up on Ryder with punches, and then sits on Ryder’s neck in the ropes. Even Blake and Alexa Bliss get involved from the outside. Now it’s Ryder’s turn to be beat up in the corner. Blake fixes him with a side headlock that forces Ryder to the mat. Blake even holds him in a bridge for a little bit! Just as Ryder is about to break free, Blake hits him and tags in Murphy, who picks up where Blake left off. His headlock is less effective because Ryder begins pushing his way through Murphy towards his home corner. Murphy hits Rawley, which gets him upset and drags Ryder back to the corner where Blake hits him. A double team move is attempted but Ryder gets his knees up and knocks both men down.

Shortly thereafter, the hot tag to Rawley is made and he cleans house with a few huge splashes, and a 360 degree chop, which leads to a 2 count pinfall. Ryder throws out Murphy and the ref brings him back to his corner. Rawley has Blake on his shoulders, gets his eyes poked, and then a dropkick from Murphy. Blake covers him, but Ryder breaks it up just in time. Murphy tries to take out Ryder but flies over the top rope. Blake clotheslines Ryder but it doesn’t hurt him. Rawley picks up Murphy just as Ryder slaps his shoulder. He ascends the turnbuckle and lands a Rough Ryder on Blake for the pin and win.

Winner: Hype Bros via pinfall in 6 minutes and 24 seconds

One cool point for the infectious energy of the Hype Bros, earning them a rare television victory. Rock on!

Backstage, Samoa Joe and Baron Corbin agree that they’ve never seen eye to eye. Corbin says he doesn’t like who Apollo Crews is and what he represents. Samoa Joe says he helped Balor out so much but when he asked for what he wanted, Balor couldn’t give him a title shot. Both men go their separate ways at promo’s end.

Fourth Segment

Non-Title Match: Bayley vs. Peyton Royce

For the record, Peyton Royce’s theme music is terrible. And she did a weird walk to the ring, smelling a flower. I don’t think that’s going to last, but that’s why they’re in nXt: to try things out.

Royce gets the side headlock in before the two run the ropes, leaping and sliding and evading one another until it ends with Bayley tossed into the corner. Bayley springboards off the ropes, connecting with a single arm takedown on Royce, followed by a corner splash. She tries for a suplex but Royce reverses it and hits her. She follows it with a running knee and a pinning attempt, but her own leg was near the ropes. Ref didn’t like that.

Royce extends her leg high into the air, choking Bayley’s neck. She covers Bayley for a 2 count and Bayley is gasping for breath. Royce with elbows to the face and a side headlock to slow down the pace. Crowd cheers Bayley on. Bayley starts to mount an offensive, but Royce stops it cold with a high kick to the head. Another 2 count. The two trade punches. Royce pushes Bayley into the corner, only to receive a kick and a flying forearm. Running one-handed bulldog and a 2 count for Bayley. Beautiful vertical suplex and Bayley’s found a second wind. Royce stops her again and gets a 2 count. Somehow, this wakes up Bayley to end the match and it’s a Belly to Bayley Suplex for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Bayley via pinfall in 4 minutes and 4 seconds

Post-Match, Nia Jax and Eva Marie show up on the stage. You can barely hear Eva for the boos. Nia says she doesn’t need Eva to do her talking. Nia says Bayley’s lucky she didn’t get to nXt sooner because she’d never be champion if she had. The boos continue. Bayley holds up her belt and the stage is set for next Wednesday.

I’ve got no cool points to give on this...actually, no, one cool point to Nia Jax for taking the microphone. She’s capable enough and it’s not like Eva is that much better. Bayley won the match but it didn’t seem like her and Royce had good chemistry. I blame Royce’s theme music.

Backstage, Finn Balor is warming up in front of his nXt Championship belt. Crews meets Balor and asks if he’s ready for tonight. Crews called all week and never got an answer. Balor says don’t worry about him. He’s fine. They’re gonna give Joe and Corbin a taste of what they’re gonna get in London. Crews says after he takes care of Corbin in London, he’s coming for the nXt title.

Promo: A video package documents highlights of Sami Zayn’s nXt career so far and states his return is near. The focus was on his US Title Open Challenge match, in Montreal, vs. John Cena.

Closing Segment

Tag Team Match: Finn Balor (c) & Apollo Crews vs. Samoa Joe & Baron Corbin

Everyone gets a full ring entrance for this main event matchup.

Balor and Corbin begin, with Balor trying to get at Joe who wants no part in physical contact just yet. They grapple and Crews tags in. Corbin avoids confrontation and tags in Joe. Plenty of mind games here. Crews and Joe grapple. They run the ropes where Crews shows off just how high he can jump and just how quick he can slide to the mat before landing a huge dropkick. Joe takes a breather and...

We go to commercial.

Corbin tags in on the return and he lays into Crews in their corner. Corbin stares down Balor while Joe chokes Crews. Off the ropes, Crews flips around Corbin and receives a back elbow, then a slam to the mat. Cover for 2. Corbin steps on Crews’ hand and tags in Joe. He locks in a head submission with a modified chicken wing. It doesn’t last. Joe turns back to strikes and succeeds, dragging Crews by the foot to tag in Corbin. They are wearing down Crews with multiple types of offense. Corbin launches himself into the corner but Crews evades it. He reaches for Balor’s hand and tags out. Balor rushes in and runs the ropes with Joe, culminating in a clothesline, a forearm smash and a soccer kick to the head. Joe retreats to the corner and Balor is on the offensive, mounting him for punches to the head. Joe reverses it, slaps him, picks up Balor for the musclebuster, but Balor slips down for a rollup pin. Corbin breaks it.

Crews rushes in to knock Corbin back out of the ring. Balor loses his footing heading for the ropes and meets Joe’s fist. Joe charges the corner but Balor charges back and takes Joe down. Huge running front dropkick by Balor. As he’s going off the top rope though, Corbin knocks him off. Joe delivers a Death Valley Driver and locks in the Coquina Clutch. Simultaneously, Crews spears Corbin on the outside. They fight their way to the back as Balor struggles to stay conscious. He passes out and Joe stands supreme. He even picks up the nXt title and puts his foot on Balor for good measure.

Winner: Samoa Joe via submission in 6 minutes and 48 seconds

One cool point for an exciting main event match, which ultimately fell apart into the 2 individual battles in the best way. I mean, they’re the matches we want to see at this point. Joe looks strong against Balor, especially in demonstrating the effectiveness of his submission game. Crews & Corbin are very evenly matched, and, hopefully they will pull off match of the night. Then again, the tag teams are on a hot streak right now and they might provide some exceptional entertainment.
