WWE nXt Results
October 28th, 2015

Coming Up Tonight: Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs. Dash & Dawson (their first names have been dropped), and the main event: Samoa Joe vs. Tyler Breeze

On commentary tonight, at Full Sail University, are Rich Brennan, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves.

Opening Segment

Singles Match: Emma vs. Shazza

Shazza is also Australian and, apparently, they have fought before when they were on the independent circuit. Graves says that doesn’t matter because Emma is different than she used to be.

The two ladies take a while to get started. Shazza beckons Emma with one hand and they grapple. It goes nowhere and, at this point, it’s noticeable that Emma has some weird leather gloves on. They only cover the fingers and part of the hand, and do not extend to the wrist. Shazza motions “are we going to fight?” and the two grapple again until Emma is thrown off the ropes, only to deliver a flying seated dropkick. She stomps on Shazza and leaves her to writhe in pain for a few moments. Picking Shazza up by the hair, Emma snapmares her using the ponytail. She grabs Shazza’s arms, steps on her ponytail and lifts Shazza up for a severe hair/arm stretch. Ouch. A step on the torso adds insult to injury, but Shazza tries to roll up Emma for a quick pin. Emma takes exception to this and stomps Shazza back down on to the mat, laying into her with punches to the head.

Another snapmare by the hair, and a head pull, result in Shazza fighting back with punches, running off the ropes, and getting thrown back on to the mat. Emma, still firmly in control, delivers a third snapmare into the corner. She smirks at Shazza, charges the corner and receives two knees to the body. Shazza sends Emma into the corner, runs in and gets thrown face-first into the second turnbuckle of the corner. This sets up the running crossbody perfectly, which Emma executes with style. She locks Shazza’s legs to prepare for the Emma Lock, slams her head on to the mat one more time, bridges back and forces Shazza’s body upwards. That looks like it hurts and Shazza lasts only a matter of seconds before tapping.

Winner: Emma via submission in 4 minutes and 18 seconds

Two cool points for the vicious streak Emma deployed tonight to beat Shazza. That submission move looks quite painful and it gives her a legitimate chance to defeat any woman she faces in the ring.

Recap: James Storm’s arrival to nXt last week.
Tom Phillips caught up with Storm after that match for a few comments. Storm shares his excitement about being in nXt, about his mom believing in him, beating breast cancer and tells everyone sorry about their damn luck. Looking forward to more from the Cowboy.

Up Next: Jason Jordan & Chad Gable vs. Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa

Second Segment

Next Week: Finn Balor (c) vs. Apollo Crews for the nXt Championship

Promo: A video is shown on fan and wrestler reactions talking about Finn Balor. These are interspersed with clips of Finn wrestling in other companies, as well as his time in nXt. Finn reveals how fun it is for him to be a wrestler. Everywhere he’s gone, he’s improved and left it a better place, and he wants to do that in nXt and in WWE.

Tag Team Match: Jason Jordan & Chad Gable vs. Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa

Gable and Ciampa square off and shake hands before tieing up. They commence a test of strength, clasping hands and pushing towards one another. This results in Ciampa forcing Gable on to the mat, kneeing him in the torso to break the bridge, which brings Gable’s shoulders down. A 2 count from the referee, followed by a 1 count until Gable is flung up into the air, but upon his return to the mat, he uses his feet to flip Ciampa over his head and on to his back. Impressive. Still holding hands, the two are mirror images, laying on the canvas, shoulders down as the referee pins. The commentators ask who’s pinning who and, though it isn’t clear, Gable and Ciampa each lift a shoulder simultaneously on 2 occasions. On the 3rd, each wrestler lifts both shoulders as they both enter into bridges to the approval of the fans. They struggle there until flipping to the side and springing back to their feet, still with hands clasped. Finally, Gable kicks Ciampa’s right hand and secures the left in a wristlock. Ciampa reverses it. Gable performs a combination of rolls, flips and spins, which you have to see to believe, to trip and lock Ciampa in an armlock. He tags in Jordan and the two send Ciampa off the ropes to receive a double hip toss. Jordan pins but no count is made since Ciampa kicks out quickly.

Ciampa reaches for his partner. Jordan pulls him back. Ciampa lands a stiff forearm on Jordan and successfully tags in Gargano. They throw Jordan off the ropes. Ciampa executes a drop-toe hold. Gargano jumps over the fallen Ciampa to connect with a double-footed kick on Jordan, followed by a running knee by Ciampa! Gargano gets a 2 count out of it and proceeds to wear Jordan down with a front headlock. Jordan attempts to flip out of it but Gargano hangs on. Jordan throws Gargano off of him and the two run off the ropes until Jordan catches Gargano in mid-air and spinebusters him into the turnbuckle. The tag is made. Jordan does a 180 degree slam on Gargano; Gable says “thank you!” and makes a pinning attempt for 1 count. Into an armlock, Gable sees it isn’t working and smashes Gargano in the face with a knee. Into the corner, Gable jumps and Gargano catches him for a kick to the face. He tries to slam him to the mat, but Gable stops him, leans back over the ropes with an armlock for a 5 count from the referee. Upon re-entering the ring, Ciampa was tagged in and he charges Gable, only to miss and get tripped up by Gable. Gable throws Ciampa over himself by the left arm but only gets a 1 count for it. Ciampa’s frustrations rise and he begins slapping Gable across the chest. He tags in Gargano and the two chuck Gable into the corner. Gargano charges but Gable lifts him over his shoulder and elbows him on the apron. Ciampa runs the ropes, misses Gable on purpose and ducks to the outside while Gargano dives in, connecting with a flying forearm smash.

We go to commercial.

Upon returning, Ciampa throws Gable off the ropes to receive a knee to the gut. He covers him for a 2 count. Gargano tags in, feet first, and Ciampa smashes Gable’s face into them. The 2 grapple. Snap suplex by Gargano for a 2 count. Wrist lock into an abdominal stretch. Ciampa tags in and the two seamlessly trade places, retaining the abdominal stretch on Gable. Gargano tags in, runs off the ropes and connects with a flying kick to the head. Another 2 count. Gable’s brought to his feet to receive a large chop to the chest. Gable gets up, fighting back but Gargano stays between he and his partner. He pushes Gable off the ropes, but Gable swiftly avoids attack, rolling up Gargano for a surprising 2 count and then an overhead toss. Both men are down for a few tense moments until the hot tags are made. Jordan punches Ciampa down, then Gargano, then dropkicks both men consecutively, followed by a huge overhead suplex on Ciampa. Big spear into the turnbuckle. Then a leg hook belly-to-back suplex that hurts Ciampa for a 2 count that is interrupted by Gargano. Jordan wastes no time throwing Gargano out of the ring.

He picks up Ciampa over the shoulder, runs forward, and Ciampa sneakily slips off and rolls up Jordan for a 2 count. He knees him in the face while Gable fights with the referee. Gable ends up in the corner, and Ciampa and Gargano each connect with running kicks to the face, which the referee misses. Gargano tags in anew, and jumps clear over the top rope to hit Jordan with a DDT! The pinfull attempt looks good until Gable cuts it off. The crowd chants “this is awesome” and Ciampa tags in. He and Gargano attempt a double team suplex but Jordan lands on his feet. He throws Gargano out of the ring, runs Ciampa off opposite sides of ropes, and slams him on the mat. Tag is made to Gable. Jordan throws Ciampa up in the air and Gable grabs him by the neck for a neckbreaker into a bridge. This move earns them the 3 count.

Winner: Jason Jordan & Chad Gable via pinfall in 12 minutes

Backstage, Devin Taylor interviews nXt Women’s Champion, Bayley about Alexa Bliss’ harsh words. Bayley says Bliss is mad at her for being a role model. Bayley is proud to be the nXt Women’s champion. Ever since Bliss has been hanging with the boys, she’s had a different side to her and Bayley has stayed true to herself as champion.
Up Next: Nia Jax in action for her second match.

Two cool points for everyone in that tag match. That was one of the best tag team matches I’ve seen on nXt. Quick pace, sound strategy by both teams and an unpredictable finish.

Third Segment

Promo: Eva Marie has sent a video of her, still on vacation, in Paris. Her trip is winding down and she misses the WWE Universe. See you soon, she says.

Singles Match: Kay Lee Ray vs. Nia Jax

Ray is from Scotland and she has dyed, cherry red hair. There’s a clear size advantage for Jax in this one.

The two ladies lock up. Ray gains the advantage on 2 occasions but Jax overpowers her. Jax delivers a headbutt and Kay sits in the corner. Jax attacks but Kay evades and attacks Jax in the corner with a flying forearm smash and a flurry of punches. Kay steps back, charges again and ends up being flipped on to the apron. Springboard plancha attempt but Kay is tripped and lands poorly. Jax delivers two vicious elbow drops to the sternum, grabs Kay by the hair and slaps her across the face. Jax lifts Kay up into a Canadian backbreaker, shaking Kay aggressively over her shoulder. After 20 seconds, Kay slips out of it and gets thrown into the corner. She tries to surprise Jax with a pinfall attempt but nothing comes of it. Dropkick to the head by Kay. She runs off the ropes and attacks once, twice, but is caught by Jax who changes her grip on Kay and spikes her on the mat. This is followed by a jumping leg drop and a 3 count pinfall.

Winner: Nia Jax via pinfall in 2 minutes and 37 seconds

One cool point for Nia Jax’s brute force. I wouldn’t want to face her. Kay did alright but couldn’t mount enough offensive moves in a row.

Up Next: Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs. Dash & Dawson

Enzo & Colin, accompanied by Carmella walk down the ramp, beginning their typical mic work when Dash & Dawson attack them from behind. Enzo is thrown right off the ramp. Cass’ knee is attacked repeatedly by the team, at ringside, and then inside the ring. The referee begs Dash & Dawson to stay away from Cass as he writhes in pain on the mat. His left knee is checked by a WWE trainer. The crowd boos consistently as Dash & Dawson jaw at the fallen Cass, mocking Enzo with “How you doin’s” and “too easys”.

This match never happens and we’re left wondering if Cass will be fit to wrestle anytime soon. One cool point for Dash & Dawson for smartly taking out their competition but that point is taken away, just like their first names were.

Backstage, Tom Phillips is with Alexa Bliss and Blake & Murphy. Bliss cuts off Phillips to say that William Regal loved her idea of having a 6-person tag team match. Her and the boys vs. Bayley and whatever two losers she can find to tag with her.

Up Next: Samoa Joe vs. Tyler Breeze

Closing Segment

Next Week: Finn Balor (c) vs. Apollo Crews for the nXt Championship

Who Is Apollo Crews? Part 2 Promo: A video is shown of #1 Contender, Apollo Crews. He shares about his debut at Takeover: Brooklyn and feeding off of the crowd’s energy during his first win, which happened on his birthday. Highlights of the #1 Contender’s Battle Royal are shown and Crews talks about wanting to be nXt Champion.

Singles Match: Samoa Joe vs. Tyler Breeze

Joe pursues Breeze around the ring until Breeze slides underneath the ropes, stalling the inevitable. Joe approaches again, with fists raised, and Breeze is having none of it. The referee’s count gets to 5 and Breeze is back in the ring. Joe chases Breeze this time but Breeze anticipated it and pounces on Joe with punches to the head and back. Big clothesline off the ropes and he poses in the corner, lying on the ropes. Joe gets up, yells and kicks Breeze in the legs, followed by rapid-fire punches to the body. Breeze retreats to the outside and Samoa Joe launches himself through the ropes, splashing Breeze into the ramp.

We go to commercial.

Breeze whips Joe into the corner but it’s reversed. Joe hits a running elbow and enziguri, knocking Breeze on to his back. Joe snapmares Breeze and strikes him with chops, kicks and knees. 2 count. Joe tries to throw Breeze off the ropes but Breeze hangs on not once, but twice. Breeze with two kicks to the gut of Joe, followed by a codebreaker type move with Breeze falling back to the mat, knees firmly planted on Joe’s back. Just a 1 count. Breeze strikes Joe in the corner. Joe fights back but receives a high dropkick for his efforts. Breeze covers for a 2 count. He applies a front headlock as Joe struggles to get to his feet. He succeeds, but Breeze takes him down. Legdrop and a 2 count. Breeze re-applies the headlock. He holds it for 20 seconds or so until Joe fights out of it and connects with an atomic drop. Off the ropes big boot. Senton. Joe chucks Breeze into the opposite turnbuckle and Breeze pops out of it into a quick powerslam. Joe only gets the 2 count but the pendulum has swung to Joe’s favour.

Joe charges at Breeze in the corner, misses, waits and clotheslines Breeze. He asks “Is this what you wanted?” and sits Breeze up on the top turnbuckle. Breeze slips out of the musclebuster with a sunset flip pin and a 2 count. Supermodel kick by Breeze! 2 count!
Breeze is frustrated. Both men stand up and trade punches. Breeze kicks Joe. Joe slaps back, misses a clothesline and Breeze catches him from behind to roll him up. 2 count again but Joe reverses it into the Coquina Clutch! Nowhere to go for Breeze and he has to tap out.

Winner: Samoa Joe via submission in 9 minutes and 4 seconds

Post-Match: Graves says Tyler Breeze took Joe to his limit. The commentators look over the replays and agree that tonight belonged to Samoa Joe.

Backstage, Devin Taylor talks with Finn Balor who discusses his match, next week, with Apollo Crews. Balor recognizes that Crews beat a lot of great wrestlers in the battle royale, but not him. Someday Crews will become nXt champion but it won’t be next week.

One cool point for Tyler Breeze getting a main event matchup and for demonstrating he’s more than capable of handling that kind of spotlight. He’s very good at getting boos, which is actually getting him some cheers! One cool point for how dangerous Samoa Joe’s Coquina Clutch is. There seems to be an emphasis on submissions in nXt and I’m okay with that. All of the wrestlers who are winning by submission are winning in a convincing way. What do you think? Would you tap out to the Emma Lock or the Coquina Clutch? And how about the show at large, did you enjoy this week’s episode? Share your thoughts below.

Peace!
