[Q1] The show went straight into the arena and John Cena made his ring entrance. He got a good reaction from the crowd as Lillian introduced him. They showed some footage of Big E Langston, Cena and Punk getting the best of The Shield on Monday Night. Cena recapped the clip and said tonight was the last Smackdown of 2013, and said this crowd would bring in the New Year. He begged for noise and WWE edited some in. He said they have to have fun bringing in the New Year, but after the New Year it’s no fun because everyone is focused on resolutions. He gave some comedy resolutions like hugging a bear, gaining 40 pounds, having Michael Cole star in a cartoon reboot, and doing a rap album with Khali. He then said if he factored in the weight of the WWE World Heavyweight Championships, and the fact that he has a rematch, maybe he could gain 40 pounds tonight. He said maybe, just maybe, Randy Orton is in the back, and he could come down and give him his shot right there tonight. He paused for a moment while the crowd anticipated Orton coming out. The Shield’s music hit and they surrounded Cena at ringside. The Shield entered the ring and started to put a beating on Cena. Mark Henry interrupted after about 10 seconds and held his own for a moment against The Shield, until the numbers caught up with him. Big E Langston then evened up the odds and the faces cleared The Shield from the ring. Kane walked out onto the stage and said as the director of operations it was obvious to him that everyone down by the ring had issues they needed to work out before the New Year. He said the shield would have three singles matches. Ambrose would take on Langston, Reigns would take on Henry, and Rollins would take on Cena. Both sets of men stared each other down. A Batista return video was shown…[c] That dancing baby Big Show New Years ad aired, and I can’t believe it aired twice. The Uso’s were making their ring entrance as the show went back to the arena. The Wyatt’s then made their entrance while a clip aired of them as they tossed Daniel Bryan off a loading dock last week. [Q2] 1. The Wyatt’s (Luke and Eric) vs. The Uso’s: Jay Uso dived onto Eric Rowan at ringside early. Luke Harper and Jimmy started early. They traded offense, and Jay hit a nice superkick for a near fall. Rowan got a blind tag, while Harper hit a big clothesline. Rowan came in and hit a running splash for the win. The Wyatt’s defeated The Uso’s at 2:04. Post-Match, Bray did the same post match beating he’s done after just about every Wyatt victory, and then knelt in front of the Uso’s as they lay motionless. Backstage, Randy Orton was interviewed by Renee Young. She mentioned that he had a fantastic 2013, and asked what he wanted to do in 2014. Orton said he already surpassed every other superstar, but since she asked so nicely, he said he might enter the Royal Rumble and win. Then, he could watch WrestleMania from a skybox, and then retire as Champion and induct himself into the Hall of Fame. Ziggler walked up at that point and said his resolution was to be the guy that finally shut Orton up. They nearly came to blows, but Kane walked up and booked them in a match for later. The Rhodes Brothers made their entrance in the arena. Cody would be wrestling a singles match tonight. Cole said he would go one on one with Cesaro next…[c] The Real Americans made their entrance. Zeb held a sign that said “Press 1 for English, Press 2 for INS”. Cole mentioned that this match was made from an incident on Main Event last week. 2. Cody Rhodes vs. Antonio Cesaro: The match stayed on the ground early with mat wrestling and reversals. Cody dumped Cesaro to the outside, and Goldust tried to psych out Cesaro. Cody hit a sunset flip out of the corner for a two count, but Cesaro launched him off and Cody rolled to the outside. They quickly re-entered the rind Cesaro took control. Cody hit a nice high knee and a couple of strikes to get back into the match. He then hit a facebuster and covered for a two count. [Q3] Swagger jumped up on the apron, and Cody knocked him off. Cesaro used the distraction for a European uppercut to the back of Cody’s head and neck, and rolled him up for the win. Antonio Cesaro defeated Cody Rhodes at 4:03. Cole plugged the main event…[c] The PrimeTime Players were in the ring with Rybaxel. Neither team got an entrance. 3. Rybaxel vs. The PrimeTime Players: Darren Young got in a wild punch on Ryback that staggered him, and he tagged in Titus. They did a double team Suplex on Ryback, and then both men started trading moves. Axel got a blind tag, and then put a knee in his back. He then entered the ring and stomped a mud hole in Titus. Axel controlled Titus in his corner, and then tagged out to Ryback. Ryback did a punch and kick routine, and then tagged out to Axel. Titus finally got back into the match with a big boot and made a tag to Young. Young hit a clothesline and an overhead belly to belly on Axel. He then knocked Ryback off the apron, and hit a Northern Lights Suplex on Axel for a two count. Young and O’Neal cleared Ryback from the ring and then rolled up Axel for a surprise victory. The Prime Time Players defeated Rybaxel at 5:05. [Q4] After the match, Randy Orton made his ring entrance…[c] Dolph Ziggler made his ring entrance, with a couple of streaks of pink hair. 4. Dolph Ziggler vs. Randy Orton: Orton rolled to the outside early as a safety valve. Dolph hit a lot of punches early and Orton hit a suplex to catch his breath. They continued to trade blows, with Dolph getting the better of it. He hit a measure elbow drop and covered for a two count. Orton pulled Ziggler into the bottom turnbuckle to kill his momentum. Orton then dumped Ziggler to the outside…[c] Ziggler made it back into the ring to beat a ten count. During the break, Orton threw Ziggler through the turnbuckles into the post and out on to the stairs. Orton took his time and stomped on Ziggler, and then dropped some knees. Orton applied a chin lock and Ziggler popped up, but ate a knee to the gut for his trouble. Dolph hit a stunner to get out of another chin lock, and then he got fired up. [Q5] He hit a splash in the corner and then ten punches, followed by a neck breaker. He then did another big elbow for a two count. Ziggler avoided an Orton power slam, and hit a jumping DDT. He covered for a nice near fall. They traded offense for another minute until ZIggler hit a clumsy missile drop kick from the top. He then tossed Orton into the post in the corner and hit a Fameasser for a close near fall. The ref separated Ziggler from Orton in the corner, and Orton took the opportunity to hit a thumb to th eye. He then hit an RKO mid ring for the victory. Randy Orton defeated Dolph Ziggler at 13:18. After the match, Orton abused Ziggler at ringside. He slammed him into the stairs and the announce table. He then tossed him into the timekeepers area, and then did his rope DDT over the barricade onto the floor. The Shield cut a promo backstage. Ambrose said 2014 will be like 2013, and the Shield would continue to wreak havoc on the WWE. Ambrose said Big E Langston bit off more of the Shield than he can chew. Reigns said Henry would be in his ring tonight, and he would understand what it meant to be in pain. Rollins said nothing in his life is more important that putting his foot on the back of Cena’s head and driving it into the mat. Believe in The Shield. Ambrose hit a few more strikes and another dropkick for a near fall. Langston charged back into the match with a clothesline, and then a Warrior Splash. Ambrose recovered and dumped him out to ringside, where everybody had a face off. Ambrose finally tossed Ambrose back into the ring. Big E surprised him with a Big Ending, and picked up the win…[c] Big E Langston defeated Dean Ambrose at 3:01. [Q7] 7. Mark Henry vs. Roman Reigns: Reigns hit a few punches, but Henry pie faced him and pushed him out of the ring. Henry followed to the outside and hit a headbutt. He tossed Reigns into the apron and then back into the ring. He continued the assault with another headbutt and a big boot. Reigns surged back and used a clothesline to get Henry off his feet, and then applied a chin lock. Henry recovered and hit a few shoulder tackles, followed by a JYD headbutt. Reigns slipped out of a scoop slam and hit a Samoan Drop on Henry. He then hit a Superman punch and a spear for the win. Roman Reigns defeated Mark Henry at 3:54. 8. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins: Cena grounded Seth Rollins early with a hammerlock, but Rolllins reversed into a side headlock. Cena pushed him off and hit a hip toss, but Rollins retreated to the outside. Rollins got back in the ring and avoided a charging Cena, who ran chest first into the turnbuckles. Rollins took over on offense and stomped on Cena. Rollins controlled Cena with a chin lock, and jumped on Cena’s back once he got to his feet to bring him back to the ground. [Q8] Cena charged at Rollins again and ate a boot for his effort. Rollins covered and got a near fall. He followed up with a neckbreaker for a two count…[c] Rollins hit a couple of running punches and talked trash to Langston and Henry. Rollins continued to dominate Cena, with a hard Irish Whip into the turnbuckle. Cena whipped Rollins into the opposite turnbuckle, and he went up and crotched himself on the top turnbuckle. Cena went for a side slam, but Rollins countered and hit a DDT. He covered for a near fall. Rollins mocked Cena with a “You can’t see me” gesture and then ate a suplex. Cena set up for the five knuckle shuffle and connected. Cena charged and ate a boot from Rollins. He followed up with a somersault neck breaker off the top rope for a near fall. Cena avoided a charging Rollins and hit a neck breaker for a near fall of his own. Cena got crotched on the top rope, and then Rollins hit a variation on Sliced Bread for another near fall. The crowd has been hot for these near falls. Cena hit a Batista Bomb (coincidence?) and got another near fall that the crowd ate up. Cena set up for AA, but Rollins grabbed the top rope. Cena yanked him off the rope, but Rollins hit a jumping side kick to Cena’s head for another close near fall. Rollins sold some frustration and climbed the top rope. He jumped at Cen and hit a flying knee. He covered, but could not put Cena away. Rollins went for a curb stomp, but Cena saw it coming and locked on the STF. Rollins reached the ropes. The match began to break down with Langston and Henry taking out the Shield members to prevent interference. Cena hit the AA in the middle of the ring after rolling through a diving cross body to get the win. John Cena defeated Seth Rollins at 14:48.
