More details have surfaced regarding the custom goalie mask CM Punk wore for his entrance on Friday’s WWE SmackDown in Toronto.
Punk paid tribute to Toronto’s hockey culture by wearing an old-school goalie mask as he made his way to the ring at Scotiabank Arena. The mask featured Punk’s logo on the side, along with paw prints honoring his late dog, Larry.
Special effects artist Jason Baker, who previously worked on Bray Wyatt’s mask for The Fiend character, revealed after the show that the paw prints used on Punk’s mask were actually Larry’s.
“Best in the world inspired Goalie mask for the Coach CM Punk created by me,” Baker wrote. “And yes, those are Larry the dog’s actual paw prints on the side. Jacket & gear by @byJolene.”
Punk went on to successfully retain the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens in the SmackDown main event. Sami Zayn played a major role in the closing stages of the show, ultimately attacking both Punk and Owens after the match.
