A top AEW star is being considered for a run at the top of the card.
According to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer, AEW is considering giving Darby Allin a run as AEW World Champion. Meltzer stated that it might not happen anytime soon due to the current main event program, but that it is being seriously talked about.
We’ve heard talk of Allin getting a run as champion no matter who wins [between Strickland and Danielson]. We know that’s been talked about seriously, but as to when, that’s less clear.
Allin will be challenging for the TNT Championship against Jack Perry at this Sunday’s All In pay-per-view. The daredevil has previously held the TNT Championship twice, and is also a former AEW tag team champion with Sting. He’s been with AEW since the very beginning, signing back in 2019 and quickly ascending as one of the company’s top superstars.
