This has been a significant year for wrestling contracts, and we now have some clarity on one deal—or at least how it stood during the summer.
In 2019, WWE and The New Day announced that Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E had all signed five-year contracts, securing them with the company until the end of 2024. While there’s no update yet on Woods or Kingston, including any potential injury time, re-signings, or extensions, we’ve learned a bit more about Big E amid speculation surrounding the group’s ten-year celebration.
According to WWE sources, as of this summer, it doesn’t appear that injury time was added to Big E’s contract, despite his being out of action since early 2022 due to a neck injury. However, it’s unclear if he has re-signed or agreed to a new deal during this period. It’s worth noting that WWE likely chose not to extend his contract for injury time, as the original deal was based on his role as an in-ring performer. Since his injury, Big E has contributed in other ways, such as appearing in digital content, public events, and panels, which count toward fulfilling his contract.
Of course, things may have changed since the summer, but this was the status at that time. We will keep you posted as any updates continue to surface.
