Drew McIntyre is back in the United States, although it remains unclear when fans will see the former WWE Champion back on television.
McIntyre has been absent from WWE programming since WrestleMania 42, with his time away reportedly being planned in advance. The 41-year-old had non-wrestling commitments to fulfill, including movie-related work, which kept him away from WWE television over the past several months.
According to a new report from PWInsiderElite.com, McIntyre has now returned to the United States after presumably wrapping up those commitments, as well as other projects connected to WWE.
Despite being back in the country, there reportedly haven’t been any creative discussions regarding McIntyre’s return to television or what storyline he could be involved in when he resurfaces.
That would indicate McIntyre’s physical return to the United States doesn’t necessarily mean an on-screen comeback is imminent. WWE has several major events approaching this fall, however, giving the company plenty of opportunities to work the former WWE Champion back into the mix when creative plans are in place.
McIntyre has remained one of WWE’s most prominent stars in recent years, particularly following his heel turn and high-profile programs with the likes of CM Punk. His WrestleMania 42 appearance remains his most recent WWE television appearance.
