Willie Mack’s recent comments about his AEW status have sparked attention, and additional details are now shedding light on the situation.
Despite the lack of appearances, Mack remains under contract with All Elite Wrestling. However, his current deal is said to be different from what he’s worked under in recent years.
When Mack first arrived in AEW, he was reportedly on a “tier zero” agreement, essentially a per-appearance arrangement rather than a guaranteed deal.
He was later moved to a full-time contract over the past couple of years, which provided a salaried structure.
That situation has now changed once again.
Recent information indicates that Mack has been shifted back to a tier zero deal, meaning he is once again being paid on a per-appearance basis. There’s currently no confirmed reason for the change in contract status.
As of now, Mack has not competed in a match for either AEW or ROH in 2026.
That stands out.
While he hasn’t been used on AEW programming this year, Mack is still able to take independent bookings.
Fans may recall there were complications surrounding his appearances for Game Changer Wrestling in late 2024, during a period when AEW and the promotion experienced a brief falling out.
For now, Mack’s in-ring future within AEW remains unclear, but his current deal allows him to stay active elsewhere while waiting for potential opportunities.
