WWE reportedly plans to keep Chelsea Green involved on television despite the injury she suffered last week.
Green sustained a broken orbital bone during the August 7 episode of WWE SmackDown and is expected to be sidelined from in-ring competition for several weeks. However, WWE is said to remain optimistic about her situation and has no plans to halt the momentum surrounding her.
Green is not expected to be stripped of her championship or removed from television while recovering. As of August 12, she was still scheduled to appear on the August 14 episode of SmackDown.
WWE officials were also reportedly impressed with the social media numbers generated by Green’s championship victory at SummerSlam, another factor in the company’s desire to keep her featured while she is unable to wrestle.
Elsewhere, WWE SmackDown could be heading back to three hours in early 2027.
After recently returning to its two-hour format, SmackDown is reportedly expected to expand to three hours again beginning in January as part of USA Network’s new-year programming schedule.
January 8, 2027 is currently targeted for the change. While that date could still shift, the expectation is that SmackDown will once again become a three-hour program early next year.
Finally, there is still no significant update regarding Bayley’s WWE contract status. It’s worth mentioning, however, that a recent social media post by Bayley rised some eyebrows backstage.
The former Women’s Champion shared a training montage featuring footage from several locations and alongside various wrestlers, including AEW star Mercedes Moné. The video was accompanied by The Grouch & Eligh song “All In,” while Bayley captioned the post, “all or nothing, baby” (see Instagram post below).
The combination was reportedly viewed as “eyebrow-raising” by some within WWE amid the uncertainty surrounding her contract situation.
