WWE Hall of Famer and Busted Open Radio co-host Bully Ray discussed Chris Jericho and the NJPW/AEW relationship on a recent episode of the Sirius XM programme.
Ray talked at length about how he ‘liked’ the idea of Jericho trying to bring the two companies together, saying “I like what Jericho was trying to do by saying ‘hey Tanahashi if you beat me you know you can get a shot at the [AEW] championship.” Bully also stated that “Jericho is trying to bring the biggest Japanese pro wrestling company and the hottest wrestling company right now in America together to maybe form a super alliance.”
It will be interesting to see if Jericho is able to be the catalyst in any sort of deal between the two companies. Ray also mentioned that “politics” of the situation is easy, “just get them both in a room” referring to AEW and NJPW staff. There is of course bad blood between both sides, with NJPW apparently still feeling the hit of The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) and Cody Rhodes leaving the company so abruptly to form All Elite Wrestling.
