Carmelo Hayes has made his first comments addressing the loss of his WWE United States Championship.
After losing the U.S. Title to Sami Zayn on last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, fans have not heard much at all from ‘Melo.
Until now.
The former NXT Champion addressed losing his U.S. title on last Friday’s show during an appearance on the Battleground podcast (see video below).
“This is probably not the platform for that,” Hayes said when asked to elaborate on his feelings about the title loss. “I mean, we got SmackDown on Friday. I think that’ll be a more appropriate platform to kind of address what is going on. I mean, you know, I’m heartbroken that I’m not champ anymore. That was something that I took a lot of pride in.”
Regarding his WrestleMania status, Hayes said “we’ll see,” addressing internet rumors of him taking time off from WWE.
“We’ll see what’s on the table for WrestleMania,” he said. “But, as far as that goes, I think SmackDown’s probably the appropriate platform for that… Please don’t believe everything you read on the internet, bro. Please don’t believe it.”
Trick Williams vs. Sami Zayn for the U.S. title was announced for WrestleMania 42, which takes place on April 18 and April 19 from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.
