On last night’s episode of WWE Backstage former superstar CM Punk spoke about the Monday Night Raw angle featuring Becky Lynch and new Raw women’s champion Asuka. In the segment Lynch handed her title over to Asuka after announcing that she will be a mother, and that Asuka’s win at Money In The Bank was actually for the championship.
Punk believes that there was an opportunity for Asuka to gain some heel heat by attacking Lynch after gifting over the title.
Personally, I think it’s a missed moment, a missed opportunity — to have that lovely dovey moment, oh, Asuka is very happy for you, congratulations, and then mist, right in the face!” Punk explained. “I think they really missed out on that, I’m a heel at heart, that’s what I would have done. Then the void is filled, you have this monster, evil woman at the top of the women’s division and everybody’s chasing her, they want revenge for Becky, they want the title. Can they stop Asuka? Nobody’s ready for Asuka!
Punk also mentions how Lynch’s absence means there’s a top spot open for other ladies, and that will breed some healthy competition.
