The next season of Dark Side of the Ring will take a deep dive into the early years of TNA Wrestling and the personal journey of company founder Jeff Jarrett.
According to Variety, season seven of the hit Vice TV documentary series premieres on Tuesday, July 7 at 9 p.m. ET, with two episodes airing on premiere night. After that, new episodes will continue to roll out on a weekly basis.
The opening stretch of the new season will feature a three-part story centered around the rise of TNA Wrestling, as well as Jarrett’s battles and eventual redemption behind the scenes.
Interesting choice for the season opener.
Dark Side of the Ring co-creators Evan Husney and Jason Eisener spoke about the ambitious direction of the upcoming season and explained why the TNA story stood out as a major focus.
“Each season, we try to challenge ourselves to go deeper, and season seven is our most ambitious yet,” said Dark Side of the Ring co-creators Evan Husney and Jason Eisener. “That’s especially true with our three-part exploration of TNA Wrestling, where Jeff Jarrett’s journey of redemption and resilience gives us a unique lens into the highs, struggles, and lasting impact of the foundational years of the company. It’s a perfect example of how compelling and ultimately human these stories really are.”
Jarrett’s story includes overcoming addiction issues while also dealing with unimaginable personal tragedy following the death of his first wife, Jill Jarrett, in 2007.
The new season is expected to continue the series’ tradition of spotlighting some of the most emotional and controversial stories in pro wrestling history, with TNA now set to receive one of the most in-depth treatments the show has ever produced.
