Dave Bautista could be headed to one of the biggest television roles of his acting career.
Variety reports that the former WWE Champion is in negotiations to play Kratos in Prime Video’s upcoming God of War series.
A deal has not been finalized, and Bautista should not yet be considered officially cast in the role.
Ryan Hurst had previously been selected to portray Kratos, but Variety reports that a torn biceps suffered during production would have delayed his availability until 2027. Amazon and Sony subsequently began looking to recast the role.
The production is reportedly aiming to resume later this year. Prime Video has already ordered two seasons of the adaptation, which draws from the more recent God of War games centered on Kratos and his son, Atreus.
Bautista has developed an extensive film and television career since stepping away from professional wrestling. His credits include the Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune franchises, while he has also worked with Amazon MGM Studios on projects including The Wrecking Crew and the My Spy films.
WrestlingHeadlines previously reported that Bautista and his Dogbone Entertainment production company signed with WME as he continued expanding his work in Hollywood.
The former Batista has also made it clear that he does not intend to return to the ring. WrestlingHeadlines recently covered Bautista reiterating that his professional wrestling career is over and that he wants to preserve the way it ended.
