Diana Hart says WWE originally wanted her involvement in a British Bulldog feud with Bret Hart to include a bloody attack using thorn-covered roses.
Hart revealed the unused idea during Episode 213 of Developmentally Speaking, available through the show’s official YouTube channel.
According to Hart, WWE wanted her to become physically involved in the program between her husband and brother.
“Originally wanted me to attack Bret in the ring.”
The planned segment would have initially appeared to be a respectful ceremony. Hart and Davey Boy Smith were going to present Bret with flowers as though they were honoring him.
“I had a bunch of roses and I was going to present them to Bret.”
The presentation would then have turned into an attack.
“They wanted me to attack Bret with the roses, the thorny roses.”
Hart said the intended visual involved the thorns cutting Bret during the assault.
“Bret would be like bleeding and stuff.”
The idea was ultimately dropped. Hart did not identify the relative who objected, meaning no particular member of the Hart family should be credited with stopping the segment.
“Somebody in my family didn’t care for the idea.”
