As noted, AEW star Anthony Bowens spoke with MSR sports columnist Charles Hallman for a piece shared via Spokesman-Recorder.com.
In addition to the highlights from the interview that we previously published here on the website, the former member of one-time AEW World Tag-Team and World Trios Champions The Acclaimed also chatted with Hallman at the first-ever AEW Brawl in the Ballpark special event at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN., about the pain he is in due to his consistent schedule on the road with All Elite Wrestling.
While touching on the topic, Bowens revealed that he is currently working hurt. Bowens claimed that he doesn’t currently have an MCL, and that the right side of his meniscus is torn, just to name a couple of issues he is dealing with these days.
“Yes, it’s entertainment,” Bowens said. “But at the same time, it’s very hard to do this at a very high level and not be an athlete. You have to be in intense cardiovascular shape. You have to be able to have coordination.”
From there, Bowens went on to reveal the injury news.
“The physicality is very real. I don’t have an MCL,” Bowens continued. “The right side of my meniscus is torn. I had to clean up my other meniscus. I’ve had multiple diagnosed concussions. Bruised nerves in my lower back. I have chronic neck pain. After a match, I feel like I’m an older gentleman who’s been through it all, and I can’t get out of bed.”
Also during the interview, Anthony Bowens touted AEW’s diverse roster and explained how AEW is ‘the alternative to WWE’ for pro wrestling fans.
