Former WWE NXT star Patrick Clark, formerly known as The Velveteen Dream, is set to step into the boxing ring later this month.
Clark will make his boxing debut at Duel: Arena on August 29 from the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida. He is scheduled to face Ryan Pownall, host of the “Pillow Talk” podcast.
“FIGHT ANNOUNCEMENT,” the promotion wrote on social media. “Ryan Pownall vs Patrick Clark Jr was just added to Duel: Arena on 8/29 at the Kia Center in Orlando, FL. Tickets are on sale now.”
The card will be headlined by a fight between Mike Perry and Dillon Danis.
Clark is best known to wrestling fans for his run in WWE NXT as The Velveteen Dream. He emerged as one of the brand’s rising stars in the late 2010s and captured the NXT North American Championship during his time with the company.
Clark was the subject of serious online allegations in 2020 involving claims that he sent explicit images and engaged in inappropriate digital communication with minors. WWE later stated that an internal investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing related to the allegations.
Clark was released by WWE in May 2021. He subsequently dealt with multiple arrests after his departure from the company and has publicly denied the allegations made against him.
