We noted earlier today via WWE’s press release on Vince McMahon’s return to the Board of Directors that two members resigned from the Board as of today – Man Jit Singh and Ignace Lahoud.
The resignation of Singh is interesting as he was the lead investigator on the internal investigation into the allegations against Vince earlier this year, according to Sean Ross Sapp.
It was reported on Thursday night how people within WWE, across all departments, were shocked at the news of Vince’s planned comeback and potential sale of the company. In an update, PWInsider notes that everyone was taken my surprise, except for the most inner circle.
It was also noted that there are people within WWE who have said they would want to leave the company if Vince comes back. It remains to be seen if that will actually happen now that Vince is back on the Board, and there’s no word on if this means talents or other workers, or both.
There have been a lot of people within WWE who were living in denial that a Vince return could happen, even though WWE’s forward-looking statements from the past six months have noted, “through his beneficial ownership of a substantial majority of our Class B common stock, our controlling stockholder, Vincent K. McMahon could exercise ultimate control over our affairs, and his interests may conflict with the holders of our Class A common stock.”
Vince is now exercising that ultimate control, and everyone in WWE is still processing that he is.
It was noted that now a lot of people are wondering what the next step is as there were no answers from the company to their employees. That should be cleared up this afternoon because as noted, there is an “all hands on deck” meeting planned.
It’s no secret that company morale went up in recent months following Vince’s retirement in late July, and now a lot of people are wondering what things will look like in the days ahead. It was noted that there is lots of trepidation for sure.
The potential lawsuits and government investigations remain, In response to a question on if the lawsuits are now gone, PWInsider wrote, “Not at all. It means Vince isn’t concerning himself with that. He wants to be back involved, he’s back involved. He wasn’t waiting to make the move.”
