Jim Ross has issued a message to fans ahead of undergoing brain surgery.
The 74-year-old AEW commentator has dealt with memory and balance issues in recent months, including a hospital stay that lasted more than 30 days across May and June.
Jim Ross is scheduled to undergo brain surgery on Wednesday, August 12. The procedure will involve the placement of a shunt designed to help manage and drain excess fluid from his brain.
Ahead of the procedure, Ross took to social media to thank fans for the support he has received.
“Thanks for the outpouring of support regarding my upcoming brain surgery,” he tweeted. “A hole will be drilled in my skull and a small tube will be inserted [into] my stomach to better manage/drain excess brain fluid.”
He wasn’t done there.
“I’m optimistic,” he added. “Thanks to all.”
Ross recently appeared at WrestleCon in Minneapolis during WWE SummerSlam week and remains hopeful that he will be able to travel to London for AEW All In 2026 later this month.
The current expectation is that Ross will only need to spend one day in the hospital following Wednesday’s procedure.
