Tetsuya Naito successfully defended his IWGP Intercontinental Championship in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom Night 2. In doing so the ‘Tranquilo’ star also captured the IWGP Heavyweight Championship from Kazuchika Okada, making him the first ever ‘dual’ IWGP Champion in company history.
Following the historic win Naito took a microphone and was speaking to the crowd regarding his journey to become the first ever dual Champion. Before Naito could finish he was blindsided by Bullet Club member and former NEVER Openweight Champion KENTA. The former WWE Superstar took out Naito and then sat on top of him holding the two belts, the same way he did after attacking Katsuyori Shibata.
It is likely that this will be the first feud for Naito as New Japan now head into the New Year Dash and New Beginning shows in February.
