Konosuke Takeshita moved into sole possession of first place in the A Block at NJPW G1 Climax 36 Night 14 on Sunday at G Messe Gunma in Takasaki, Japan.
Takeshita defeated SANADA to reach 12 points, while Yuto-Ice scored a consequential main-event victory over Shingo Takagi as the block race moved toward its final night.
Last year’s G1 Climax winner entered the event tied with Boltin Oleg at 10 points. Takeshita pinned SANADA with Raging Fire in 14:02, while Hirooki Goto defeated Oleg with the GTR in 15:20.
Ryohei Oiwa and Yota Tsuji also moved to 10 points. Oiwa submitted Jake Lee with the TM Clutch, while Tsuji pinned Great-O-Khan following the Gene Blaster.
Yuto-Ice closed the show by pinning Takagi with HEARTLESS in 20:25. Both men now have eight points heading into the final A Block card on August 12.
