Matt Hardy believes WWE should resist the temptation to turn Oba Femi heel.
With WWE continuing to tease a potential showdown between Femi and Bron Breakker, Hardy discussed the direction of Femi’s character on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast (see video below). The former WWE star believes Femi has become too popular with the audience to move away from his current babyface role.
“I mean, I think he’s too over,” Hardy said. “I think people like him, especially with this character…he’s this monster.”
Hardy also pointed to Femi’s popularity and representation as reasons WWE should continue positioning him as a top babyface.
“Just to point out the obvious, just [him] being black, and being so popular, I think it’s very good to have a character like that be a big baby face and represent your company,” he continued. “I wouldn’t [change] him as a baby face right now.”
Femi and Breakker have been involved in recent teases of a potential feud, though WWE has yet to officially announce a match between the two.
