Maxxine Dupri is enjoying life as a heel after having three years of frustration with WWE fans built up.
Dupri turned heel last month, leaving Alpha Academy behind and aligning herself with Austin Theory and the rest of The Vision. After dealing with criticism from fans throughout her main roster run, Dupri told WittyWhittier that she now has plenty she wants to get off her chest.
“I mean, I love it. Y’all pissed me off for three years. I have so much to say, to get off my chest. I can finally be honest. It’s amazing.”
Dupri also discussed her on-screen pairing with Theory, offering some high praise for her new stablemate.
“I think that we look perfect. We act perfect. Everything we do together is just 10 out of 10. I love it. It’s so special getting to work with someone who is so talented. I mean, I’ve said it time and time again, and I’ll remind you, he is the hottest, most jacked, talented, tenacious superstar in all of the WWE. So there’s quite literally no one better for me to be paired with.”
The conversation also turned to WWE: Unreal and the criticism the series has received from some fans who believe it reveals too much about the behind-the-scenes workings of WWE. Dupri, who said Total Divas helped spark her own love of wrestling, defended the concept.
“I mean, I fell in love with this from Total Divas,” she said. “So I’m always going to stand 10 toes down with anything that shows that other side of our business because I personally just really enjoy that, and I think the thing to keep in mind with Unreal is like they’re filming all year.”
Dupri pointed out that viewers are still only seeing a small fraction of everything WWE: Unreal captures throughout the year.
“So there’s hours and hours and hours of footage for these six episodes,” she continued. “So it’s like even though people think like, ‘oh, my gosh, we’re seeing too much or this and that’, like you’re still just getting a little taste, and at the end of the day. I don’t know why everyone’s up in arms. If you don’t want to watch something, don’t watch it. Do you have no willpower? No self-discipline? Like, my goodness, it’s crazy. I think it’s an incredible show, and if you don’t like it, hit next.”
Dupri additionally reflected on watching Chelsea Green capture the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. Dupri watched Green’s victory from the Gorilla position and said the moment gave her goosebumps.
“I think my favorite thing, and SummerSlam is a great example, when we got to watch our Canadian queen, Chelsea Green, bring home that title, I got to watch that from Gorilla, and it’s like, goosebumps the entire time. That’s one of those moments that is just so unreal and gives… just such a special moment to every single person in that stadium.”
