Last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT saw former world champion Chris Jericho and rising star MJF perform a musical number during their highly-anticipated “Le Dinner Debonair” segment. The spot ended up performing quite well between TV ratings and Twitter views, and was praised by Tony award winner Alex Boniello online.
According to the Wrestling Observer, MJF was actually the one who came up with the idea. Reports are that the 24-year old drew inspiration from the recent rock biopic Rocketman, with AEW looking to use an Elton John song for the shoot. That is where Jericho suggested they use the “Me and My Shadow” track from music legend Sammy Davis Jr.
Jericho revealed in a post show promo on Wednesday that they were up filming the segment until 2am, and only completed editing moments before it aired. You can read more about that here.
