Opening Segment: Street Profits Challenge Viking Raiders
Viking (War) Raiders come down to the ring. Ivar talks about brutalizing the RAW Tag Team Division. Erik says they’re not close to being done so they want nXt General Manager William Regal to take care of these nXt Tag Team Championships.
GM Regal makes his way to the ring.
Erik says that they know there is no one who can take these titles from them, they are out here to relinquish them. Regal is surprised.
The Street Profits’ music hits and they make their way to the ring. Ford and Dawkins disagree with the Raiders’ statement. They are not no ones. After their match a few weeks ago, everybody recognized that the Street Profits can beat the Viking Raiders. So, they challenge them to a final match, making fun of their name changes.
Ivar and Erik drop the mics and they tell Regal to make the match. They take the belts back. Regal announces that, in the main event, it will be the Viking Raiders against the Street Profits.
Highlights from last week’s match between Riddle & Cole are shown, specifically when Roderick Strong got involved in the match.
Post-match, we see Cole and Strong arguing and Cole insults Strong. Strong walks away and Cole says that Strong might not deserve to wear the colors.
Adam Cole is asked about leadership rumors in the Undisputed Era. Cole says it’s clear who is with him and who is not. Adam Cole is the leader. Don’t forget it.
Roderick Strong shows up and he says he thought about what has happened between them. Roderick says Cole is right. They are stronger when they are on the same page. Roderick tells Cole that Matt Riddle problem has been taken care of as Roderick gives Cole a flip flop.
Second Segment: Keith Lee vs. Cesar Bononi
Big shoulder tackle on Bononi. Chops and kicks send Bononi stumbling, but he stays with it. Bononi tries to use the ropes, but to little success. He chokes Lee, hits him with punches, shoulder tackles, but nothing works.
Lee connects with a running forearm in the corner. Pounce and Spirit Bomb for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Keith Lee via pinfall
1 cool point for Lee. This big bad man is a marvel in the ring, with his size, strength and agility. Want to see him in a featured role soon!
Third Segment: Kushida vs. Kona Reeves
Highlights include:
Kushida and Reeves exchange submission manoeuvres, then head scissors/side headlock takedown combos.
Drew Gulak has come out to watch! Think he’d make for a great opponent for Kushida?
Reeves with strikes, big boot and a suplex for a 2 count. Kushida fights back with an enzuiguri, followed by handspring back elbow, hip toss, cartwheel and dropkick! 1-2- kickout.
Swanton after kicking Reeves to the floor, Kushida continues to dominate, forcing Reeves to tap out to the Hoverboard Lock.
Winner: Kushida via submission
1 cool point for Kushida. That’s 2 matches in 2 weeks and he’s handling himself like a real star. Reeves is great as a wannabe. Seeing Gulak watching the match sets up for a potential Takeover match, which would be intriguing.
Backstage, Bianca Belair talks to Cathy Kelley and they walk up to Mia Yim. Bianca says that Mia is getting on her and doesn’t deserve a title shot.. Mia says she isn’t trying to get a match against Shayna. Mia says she wants a rematch against Bianca because Bianca used a short cut. Bianca enters Regal’s office but leaves Cathy in the hall.
Also, Johnny Gargano checks on Matt Riddle. Matt says he’ll be OK. Johnny says the Undisputed Era is coming after him and he knows he has a target on his back. It will be him versus Adam Cole at Takeover XXV.
Fourth Segment: Kushida vs. Kona Reeves
Borne stops all of Jessie’s offense to start and then connects with a shoulder tackle and drop toe hold. Borne stomps on Jessie and then tosses Jessie by the hair and hits a drop kick. Even Aliyah slaps Jessie when the referee is distracted by Evan.
Borne with a splash to the back while Jessie is still in the ropes. Jessie surprises Borne, and the fans, with an inside cradle for a near fall. Borne is sent into the middle rope and Jessie with a spinning heel kick but misses a splash into the corner. Borne with a head butt and neck snap driver for the three count.
Winner: Vanessa Borne via pinfall
1 cool point for Borne & Aliyah who continue to get steady TV time, and who are building up the boos directed towards them.
Main Event: nXt Tag Team Championship Match (Viking Raiders vs. Street Profits)
Highlights include:
Erik with a drop kick to Dawkins and then connects with a knee to Ford after a judo toss. Ivar is sent into Dawkins in the corner. Dawkins stops the Viking Experience and Dawkins gets a near fall. Ford gets a near fall. Ivar with a knee to Ford and Dawkins tags in. We have a cartwheel montage and Ford tags in and hits a frog splash for a near fall. Ford charges into a seated splash from Ivar and Erik tags in and goes after Dawkins and gets a near fall.
Suddenly, while Erik’s got Dawkins wrapped up, The Forgotten Sons attack Ivar on the floor and the referee calls for the bell.
Winners: NO CONTEST
Post-match, Erik goes after the Forgotten Sons and then the Street Profits join in.
Now, it’s Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan making their way to the ring to join the battle. Ford & Dawkins were eliminated, as it were.. Ivar and Erik go after the Forgotten Sons as well as Burch and Lorcan. Ivar with a cannonball onto the Forgotten Sons. Street Profits hit an Electric Chair Blockbuster and get a Pyrrhic pinfall on Erik. Wow.
Pulling out all the stops here, Ivar with a springboard clothesline to Burch while Erik hits a German suplex. They get Lorcan and press slam him onto Burch and the Forgotten Sons. They hit the Viking Experience on Blake.
1 cool point for the schmozz ending that may build up to a multi-team match for these nXt Tag Team Titles. Probably a good choice because there’s no clear #1 contender in the nXt tag roster.
It’s good to see these mid-card tag teams getting time to shine in the ring and on the mic.
nXt TakeOver XXV, the first to be numbered, takes place on June 1st, in a little less than a month. Any predicted matches? I suppose the spoilers would give it away, but this is a spoiler-free space! Predictions from people who only watch are welcome.
