Rhea Ripley has shared a significant update on her recovery from the knee injury that has kept her sidelined since June.
Following WWE Clash in Italy, Ripley was evaluated for a knee injury that was later confirmed to be a slight meniscus tear.
On Thursday, the WWE Women’s Champion revealed that she has now undergone surgery to repair the injury, marking the first surgery of her wrestling career.
In a statement shared via social media (see post below), Ripley explained that surgery was not her preferred option but ultimately became necessary.
“Life update,” she began the statement shared via her official Instagram page. “After just under 14 years in wrestling and doing sports my entire life… It’s caught up to me.”
She went on to discuss the decision to undergo the procedure and her determination to return to the ring.
“Surgery was never a first option for me, but it got to the point that it was needed,” she continued. “First one down… Hopefully no more… I’ve survived, now it’s time to start thriving again so I can get back to what I love to do! See you all down the road.”
Ripley’s last televised match came at WWE Clash in Italy on May 31, where she successfully retained the WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill. She wrestled on a handful of WWE’s European live events afterward before being sidelined with the injury.
With Ripley unable to compete, WWE introduced an Interim WWE Women’s Championship, which Chelsea Green captured at SummerSlam 2026 while Ripley continues her recovery.
