Several developments came out of the August 20 episode of TNA iMPACT, including the end of an undefeated streak, the finals being set for the Knockouts Television Championship tournament and some late changes to Sunday’s Lockdown pay-per-view.
Rich Swann handed Mr. Elegance his first singles loss since arriving in TNA Wrestling. A.J.Z. (Andreas John Ziegler) was introduced as Mr. Elegance when TNA launched its run on AMC and had gone 7-0 in singles competition prior to Thursday night. His winning streak included a victory over then-TNA Knockouts World Champion Léi Yǐng Lee.
That run came to an end when Swann defeated Mr. Elegance on Thursday’s show.
Elsewhere, the finals are now set for the TNA Knockouts Television Championship tournament.
M by Elegance had already punched her ticket to the finals, leaving Heather by Elegance and Jada Stone to battle for the remaining spot. Stone ultimately picked up the victory after connecting with her Spark Stunner.
Stone will now face M by Elegance in the tournament final on the August 27 episode of TNA iMPACT, guaranteeing that the inaugural championship will be decided between the two.
The System will also enter Sunday’s Lethal Lockdown match with the advantage.
Brian Myers defeated Fabian Aichner in a singles match to determine which team would receive the advantage at Lockdown. Myers picked up the win after pushing the referee into the corner and delivering a low blow to Aichner while the official’s back was turned.
The Lethal Lockdown match will feature The System’s Myers, Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards and Bear Bronson against Ricky Sosa, Aichner, Jada Stone and K.C. Navarro.
TNA also announced several changes to the lineup for Lockdown, which takes place Sunday, August 23 from Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
The X Division Championship match between Leon Slater and Cedric Alexander has been changed to a Last Man Standing match. As things currently stand, the stipulation will still take place inside a Steel Cage, as will the other matches on the Lockdown card.
There has also been a change involving the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship match. With Rosemary currently “missing,” Allie will have a new partner when she defends the titles against The Elegance Brand’s Heather by Elegance and M by Elegance.
Finally, two matches have been confirmed for the Countdown to Lockdown pre-show. The Righteous duo of Vincent and Dutch will take on BDE and Rich Swann, while Trey Miguel vs. Agent Zero has been moved from the main card to the Countdown show.
