Athena dealt with a scary situation during her title defense at ROH Death Before Dishonor.
Athena defended the ROH Women’s World Championship against Hazuki at Friday’s pay-per-view on August 21, ultimately retaining her title.
Following the event, a clip from the match began circulating on social media showing Athena down at ringside for an extended period as fans encouraged her to get back to her feet.
Athena reacted to the clip and revealed that she had suffered an asthma attack during the match. She also thanked the AEW and ROH staff for quickly assisting her.
“Yeah…. so ….had an asthma attack mid match…. glad my minions had my back!!! A major thank you to [AEW] [ROH] staff for the quick response… keeping the [forever champion] in peak condition,” Athena wrote.
Despite the issue, Athena was able to continue the match and finish as scheduled, successfully retaining the ROH Women’s World Championship over Hazuki.
