Will Ospreay is excited to make his in-ring return in “The Land of the Rising Sun.”
“The Aerial Assassin” is scheduled to make his return to the New Japan Pro Wrestling ring at the company’s upcoming NJPW Sakura Genesis 2026 show on April 4.
Ahead of the show this weekend, the AEW star surfaced via social media to release a statement.
“10 years ago,” Ospreay’s statement began. “I boarded a flight to Tokyo to perform for NJPW. 22 years old I could barely speak English and I was so scared going to a country by myself that I couldn’t speak the language.”
Ospreay went on to explain what he learned while working in Japan and how it shaped him as a man.
“I spent 8 years in Japan & it completely shaped me as a man,” he continued. “Japan taught me patience & etiquette. All I wanted to do was show my love & appreciation to a country that allowed me to be a kid & I got to grow up in a locker room full of men I had the utmost respect for. I’ve not stopped thinking about you since I left 2 years ago. Can’t wait to come home and wrestle in my favourite arena in wrestling.”
Will Ospreay is scheduled to team up with Great-O-Khan and HENARE to take on the three-man team of Yuya Uemura, Taichi and El Desperado at the NJPW Sakura Genesis show on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
