Will Ospreay is planning to represent his home country in more ways than one when he steps into Wembley Stadium at AEW All In.
Ospreay is scheduled to challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship at the August 30 pay-per-view, and the English star will be sporting special gear for the occasion.
Speaking with TV Insider ahead of All In, Ospreay revealed that he is moving away from his traditional green color scheme and wearing red and white gear inspired by England’s historic 1966 World Cup victory.
“The gear is modeled after England’s 1966 World Cup win,” Ospreay said. “So I have the red and white. I’m usually in green, but when I play, I think about my home and away kit. My away kit is the green color, but my home kit is red.”
The 1966 tournament remains the only time England has won the FIFA World Cup, with the national team defeating West Germany in the final at Wembley Stadium.
Ospreay will also have plenty of personal support inside Wembley for his showdown with Omega. He joked that the number of friends and family attending has gone “way and truly over” the usual allotment of complimentary tickets.
Beyond potentially capturing the AEW World Championship on home soil, Ospreay already has ideas about what he would like to accomplish with the title.
Ospreay explained that he has frequently approached AEW President Tony Khan with ideas aimed at incorporating more of a legitimate sports atmosphere into professional wrestling.
“I’ve always come to Tony [Khan] with different ideas. Just because I have ideas with matches that could be different and introduce something that has more of a sports feel and a sports mentality. I’m very much inspired by the World Cup to be able to show people there’s different ways that we can present sports,” Ospreay said.
“There’s different ways that we could present wrestling in that sphere. So, if I was ever lucky enough to win this World Championship at Wembley Stadium, I feel like my legacy with that championship is to create something that no other wrestler has kind of done before and bring back that sports film mentality.”
Ospreay returned to the ring earlier this year after undergoing neck surgery in late 2025. He now heads into one of the biggest matches of his career with the opportunity to capture the AEW World Championship in front of his home-country crowd.
