WWE has unveiled the bracket and first-round schedule for the tournament that will crown Roman Reigns’ upcoming challenger for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship when WWE makes their return to Mexico this coming September.
The stakes are set for September 14, when WWE Raw rolls into Mexico City, as “The OTC” will defend his title against one of the top luchadores in WWE or AAA.
Eight potential challengers.
One winner.
The tournament kicks off with three first-round matches spread across two upcoming episodes of WWE Raw, with one on the 8/10 show and two on the 8/17 episode, plus a fourth bout set for the weekly AAA on FOX show on 8/15.
The tournament was announced by AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio earlier this week after a cliffhanger tease that closed out the August 3 episode of WWE Raw, when Mysterio and Reigns shared the final segment of the show in Gorilla position with an unexplained handshake.
