AJPW Champion Carnival Tournament Now Set To Take Place In September

All Japan Pro Wrestling announced in a press conference earlier this morning that their annual Champion Carnival tournament, which was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, will be rescheduled for September. The event was originally set to take place between April and May, with President Takeki Fukada revealing that he hoped to have the tournament back in 2020.

Fukada also announced that foreign wrestlers would most likely not be able to compete due to the travel restrictions from the viral outbreak, which would have included MLW superstar Davey Boy Smith Jr. No official schedule has been made as a this time.

This news comes days after Japan lifted it’s state of emergency. Promotions will be able to run a larger number of venues beginning June 19th.
