Matt Riddle is apparently set for a push on the WWE SmackDown brand.
Riddle is scheduled to receive a big introduction to the blue brand on this Friday’s show, according to Fightful Select. The plan is for Riddle to be involved with WWE Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles for his intro to the brand, but there’s no word yet on what that will consist of.
It was also noted that WWE officials have high hopes for Riddle on SmackDown based on his first day there.
Beyond this week’s intro to the brand, Riddle is planned for a feud with King Baron Corbin.
Fans have speculated on WWE possibly doing a Riddle vs. Corbin feud for a while now after Corbin eliminated Riddle in the 2020 Royal Rumble Match. Corbin also eliminated Riddle in the Team WWE NXT vs. Team RAW vs. Team SmackDown match at the 2019 Survivor Series pay-per-view.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is the one who called Riddle up from NXT to the main roster. It was noted that Vince wanted Riddle on the roster and had the call up planned for three months.
