According to PW Insider, long-time WWWF/WWF/WWE referee John Lotz passed away this past Saturday April 18th. He was 86. Lotz is best remembered for officiating the Hulk Hogan and Iron Sheik matchup, where Hogan captured the WWF championship for the first time in Madison Square Garden, and kicked off the Hulkamania era.
Lotz also appeared in several movies and television series including Raging Bull, The Siege, and The Sopranos.
