FUJI TV issued the following press release announcing the cancellation of the “Terrace House Tokyo”series in response to the tragic death of 22-year old professional wrestlers Hana Kimura, who appeared regularly on the show.

We also deeply mourn the bereaved families Regarding ‘TERRACE HOUSE TOKYO: 2019-2020,’ we have decided to stop recording, broadcasting, and distribution on FOD in the future. We take this issue very seriously and would like to continue to earnestly respond to it.
The series grew in popularity after being picked up by Netflix, but was the main subject matter in the cyberullying received by Kimura prior to her death. As reported yesterday, Japanese government officials are still looking into identifying and punishing those responsible.
