What’s The Future Of The IMPACT World Championship?

Scott D’Amore: As reported on ImpactWrestling.com, earlier this week, I am here tonight to address the situation with the Impact World’s Championship. As many of you will recall, at Rebellion, we were unable to deliver the advertised Impact World Championship Match. And subsequently, over these past many weeks of television, we’ve had a number one contenders tournament, which agree with his methods or not, credit where credit is due, was won by Ace Austin. Now, my responsibility as an Impact Executive is not just to the wrestlers in the back, it’s not just to the holder of the Impact World’s Championship, but it’s to you the fans and to the very integrity of the Impact World’s Championship, itself. And the fact is, as I stand here today, the Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard is still not in the building tonight.

Ace Austin: Listen, I don’t want to spoil the surprise. I know you wanted to make the announcement, but let me make the announcement for you. Ladies and gentlemen, Scott D’Amore was out here tonight to crown me, the Impact World Champion.

Michael Elgin: Ace, you’re speaking out of turn. But before that, Scott, you’re right, the advertised match for the World Championship at Rebellion, the one I was gonna win, didn’t happen. So Ace, if you want to come out here and stake claim to a championship that’s rightfully mine, well, then you have to deal with me. See, as far as I see it, you got two choices. One, get out of my ring or two, fight me. And, if you haven’t been paying attention, anybody that decides to fight me, well, they can’t handle me. As a matter of fact, not you, and not a single person back there can step in here and handle Michael Elgin.

Eddie Edwards: Hold on, I hate to ruin a good time, I can see you guys having a good time. But Elgin, I don’t want to scare you, but your short-term memory, it’s gone, pal. Because everybody’s scared, everybody’s afraid of Michael Elgin, right? I’m not of afraid of you, I’ve done battle with Michael Elgin, I have beat The Unbeatable Michael Elgin, I have broken The Unbreakable Michael Elgin. And now you two are out here, asking to be handed a championship from Mr. D’Amore, good to see you, man. To be handed a championship that you haven’t rightfully earned. That is not what Impact Wrestling is about. I know, I have been here longer than you guys. But here, you don’t get handed a championship, Ace, you have to earn it. Here in Impact Wrestling, you have to fight for it.

Scott D’Amore: Well, listen guys.

Ace Austin: Well, actually listen Mr. Scott D’Amore, okay. Before you guys interrupted the boss man here, he was out here for a reason, okay? To make a big announcement, your big announcement, was crowning me the Impact World Champion. I don’t see the title, so let’s go, grab the title and let’s get this done, porky.

Scott D’Amore: Okay, first of all, back up just a little bit for social distancing purposes. Secondly, I hate to admit it, but you’re right, Ace, i’m not the thinest guy in the whole world, i’ll give you credit for pointing that out. But see, what you fail to understand, Ace, and the cornerstone of the company pointed it out to you, but here, you fight to be a champion, you don’t just get handed a championship.

It doesn’t get handed over, its won in the ring. So, i’ll tell you what, you’re not going to be the champion here tonight. At Slammiversary, everyone of you gets an opportunity to prove, to earn the right to be the Impact World Champion, because at Slammiversary, it’s gonna be the champion Tessa Blanchard defending against you guys in a 5-Way for the championship, and we’ll decide who’s best there.

Ace Austin: Are you out of your mind? I went through a whole tournament. What do you mean I didn’t earn it? You’re senile, all right. Not only that, but clearly you can’t even count. There’s isn’t five, there’s only four.

Scott D’Amore: Well, you’ll have to pardon me, because as I’m prone to say, I only passed math in high school because my football coach taught it to me. But before we make a final determination on the numbers, why don’t you just turn around for a minute? Yeah, just turn out.

Trey Miguel clocks Austin with a SpringBoard Missile Dropkick. Miguel is raining down haymakers. A pier six brawl ensues to close the segment.
